Hi Erika-- so much helpful information here, THANK YOU. Just a quick follow-up on the car seat adaptor questions. Any idea whether there are differences between the UK and US versions of the Maxi Cosi carseat that would prevent the UK adaptors from working here? I have no problem with them not passing what I'm imagining to be fairly bureaucratic US regulatory hurdles, but wonder if the technical specs might differ.

Hi Sara- I wish I could answer your question. If we could ever actually get our paws on a European Maxi Cosi Cabrio maybe I could give you an answer but since I haven't seen one and Bugaboo just says "no" to using the UK one, I'm not sure what to tell you. I'd poke around a bit more online and maybe you can find some infomation from some European sites. But since there are all sorts of liability issues, we still don't recommend it. Hope that helps- Erika

We just bought a bugaboo Camelion. We wanted to buy the Maxi cosi seat but after wrestling with it in the shop to get it on and off the Bugaboo we went with the Gracco instead. The Gracco is made by Rubbermaid and it looks terrible. It does not have the material comfort and style that the Maxi cosi has but - it works! The Mico adapters look identical - if you get them the wrong way round they jam in the car seat! It then requires considerable brute force (a guy) to pull them out! Assume you will be tired and cranky when using the seat - its bound to happen. You cannot fold the bugaboo without removing the adapters so they are bound to get mixed up. Even the right way round they are difficult to engage with the seat. There have also been problems installing the seat base in cars in North America. The shop we went to is no longer selling the Maxi Cosi as they have had huge problems with them. This is very dissapointing as the Maxi Cosi is a terrific seat....

Hi Simon- Thanks so much for your feedback. Amy and I have heard similar feedback from some of our other parents. Specifically, other parents have told us that they have struggled with their Maxi Cosi adapters on their Cameleon. It is essential that you put them in the proper side or you will really fight to get the car seat off! (Although I would respectfully disagree that you need "a guy" to get them off- plenty of us moms out there have the biceps to do the job!)

We have heard from parents that the Graco adapter bar for the Cameleon is the easiest to use. I used a Snugride with my Cameleon (I agree is wasn't the most fashionable but it was safe and it worked!) and it is very easy to snap in and out. Thanks for your feedback! Erika

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that the Bugaboo Bee is being advertised as compatible with Maxi Cosi car seats in the UK, with the adapters readily available. eg; http://www.johnlewis.com/230439637/Product.aspx

Thanks for a great blog. Think its definately decided us on the Bee for our upcoming arrival!

Hi Nikki- Thanks for your post and I'm glad it helped you decide on the Bee. I just want to remind our U.S. readers that there are currently no plans to introduce the Maxi Cosi adapter bars for the Bee here in the U.S. They still have not passed U.S. safety testing. Erika

Hello Erika,
I'm confused about the bassinet. Earlier you say "The bassinet is its own piece (separate from the seat itself)" and then later "The Targo doesn’t actually come with a separate bassinet (like the RSB). It is similar to the Bugaboo where it comes with one seat frame and the fabrics to make it into a bassinet or seat." I'm not familliar with how this works? 2 pieces but 1 frame? Can you clairify how this works?

Thanks

Hi there- I'm sorry if that was confusing. The Targo is similar to the Bugaboo in that it comes with all you need in the box to configure either a seat or a bassinet. The RSB stroller had a completely separate bassinet and seat. The Targo basically has one seat frame that needs to be configured to be the bassinet or seat. Hope that helps- Erika

Hello everyone.. love this site and I was reading some of the questions about the vibe. I love our vibe and use it with an "illegally" rigged up Graco Safe seat and with child seat under. If you place the front bar in the lower slots you can fit the car seat in place without putting the seat down. (however it dosn't lock to anything....be warned) I think use your judgement as a parent. I have used it this way in the store for quick trips...but I wouldn't do it this way where I'm going over bumps, though I have thought about making a "seat belt" to keep it secure. Also my boys are closer together in age so baby with car seat and my older boy about equal out in weight. So if it dosn't feel "right" with your kids in the stroller please don't try it. Kristina

***PLEASE BE AWARE THAT STROLLERMAMA, REGAL LAGER AND PHIL & TEDS DO NOT SANCTION USING THE STROLLER IN THIS WAY! The heavier child is supposed to ride in the front seat. The stroller has not been safety tested using an infant seat carrier with a second rider in the back. It could cause the stroller to break or tip. I posted this blog (thanks for your feedback, Kristina, but I just feel the need to clarify our postition) and my response because I want our parents to make sure they use the stroller according to the directions set forth by the manufacturer and distributor.***

Dear Erika, Thank you for the info on the vibe I've read. I've gotten conflicting info regarding any travel system to accommodate infant seats for the vibe, but called Regal Lager regarding such. They said that only the vibe infant seat can be used, but that it is not coming out until the end of the year!! Do you know of any other phil & ted's infant seats that can be used with the vibe so that I can get it now (my 3rd is due next month!)? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Avigale- Unfortunately, the information that Regal Lager gave you was right. The Vibe will only be compatible with the yet to be released Phil & Teds infant carrier which definitely won't make it in time for your third (I have three, too!) So for now, if you want to use an infant seat, the Vibe won't work for you. You could get the Sport Buggy but also keep in mind that if you want to use an infant seat with a Phil & Teds stroller, it cannot be used as a double. Give us a call or shoot us an email if you want more information. Best of luck with your third :) Erika

I have a quick question - do either the Sport or the Vibe take a car seat? I saw someone at the mall the other day with a car seat and a second child on the attachment. She said she had to buy a separate adaptor, but I can't seem to find anything about it on the P&T web site.

Hi Christine- Thanks for your post. At this time, the only Sport Buggy can work with an infant car seat with an adapter bar. There is an adapter bar for the Graco, Peg and Maxi Cosi infant seats. Please remember that you cannot use the infant seat adapter with a second child riding in the back seat. The heavier child must ride up front or the stroller could tip. If you want to use the infant seat adapter bar, you cannot use the stroller in doubles mode. Hope that helps- Erika

We "test drove" the Sport Buggy in the store with our 20 month old twins. I absolutely loved it, but have two concerns. First, the little one riding in the rear seat attachment kept putting his fingers between the wheel guard and the tire...no injuries, just worrisome especially if we were going faster out and about town. My second concern is that the same little one in the rear seat seemed to have his head resting right on the bar that frames the rear seat. He's not tall for his age. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced these two concerns. I am also wondering if these concerns have been addressed with newer models. Thank you so much for such an imformative review!

Hi Emily- Congratulations on finding time to post on the blog with 20 month old twins! :) First, regarding fingers in the wheels- all of the Phil & Teds buggies now have the wheel guards for this precise issue. If you have an over-curious toddler and the wheel guards don't stop his fingers from wandering in there, the buggy might not be the right fit for you. Second, make sure that when you use the doubles kit in the back that it is not in the reclined position. It sounds like it might be by the way you are describing it. I would check that out. If you have more questions, please let me know! Thanks- Erika

Hi,

After opening my Bee and getting it up and running, i had some problems with the alignment of the backrest adjustment (the arms would not move up and down when the lock is pressed), causing the the arm release button to be misaligned and extremely hard to push in and out especially in the rear facing mode.

Suffice it to say i was very disappointed as i was expecting a higher build quality than this. Has anyone else experienced such a problem? If so, what did you do to fix it? I manually tried to slide the arms up and down and that seemed to work, but it is still stuck in the rear facing mode and is extremely hard to reverse.

The store i purchased it from is not in my city- I contacted Bugaboo and they just suggested i take it back to have it checked. Any suggestions/ similar stories?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Al- Thanks for your post. I have not heard of this issue from any of our parents about their Bees. In fact, we have generally gotten wonderful feedback about the Bee from our parents. The retailer that sold you the Bee should be able to help assist you with getting it repaired. If they are unhelpful, I would definitely contact Bugaboo again. I have found their customer service to be very helpful. Good luck! Erika
