Arriving soon- Big news for Bugaboo in 2008!

So, here is the latest scoop for all of you Bugaboo fans out there.  I just talked our rep yesterday and got the skinny on all things Bugaboo 2008.   No changes to the Frog- the one and only original Bug will remain the same.  Not much new for the Bee other than the long anticipated debut of the Graco infant seat adapters (which are expected late April/early May) and the exciting Bee in PINK available late April/early May (which we blogged about back in September).

Big changes for the 2008 Cameleon.  First, the air tires are being replaced with EVA foam tires.  When I asked why, Bugaboo told me it was because they were replacing too many blown tires and that they felt the EVA foam performed equally as well.  They said they will look no different than the air tires currently on the Cameleon and you will not be able to tell by looking at them.  Second, the adjustable handlebar has been revamped.  Instead of the two twisty knobs on either side of the handle, the adjustment mechanism will be very similar to the handlebar extenders on the Bee.  More of a pop open and pull up and then lock back down.  Functionally, the extension will be the same but a tad easier to move up and down.

Most exciting- I have information on new colors and fabrics!  Bugaboo is phasing out the Bright Blue base and adding two great new base colors- Orange, Dark Blue and Dark Chocolate Brown!  I had heard rumors of the Chocolate base a while back and I am thrilled to hear they are confirmed to be true!  It is the same dark brown canvas that is currently available as a canvas tailored fabric and it is absolutely beautiful.  Rich and warm and will look amazing (I keep thinking how great it would look with my current pink tailored fabric……)  The orange is darker than the current orange and the dark blue is darker than the bright blue but not as navy as the navy Frog.  It is like the blue on the Bee.  The 2008 Cameleon bases in dark grey and sand will be available March 1, 2008, the red will be available April 1, 2008 and the dark brown, orange and dark blue will be available May 15, 2008.

Other big color news are the new tailored fabrics.  Bugaboo is phasing out the current pink and orange Cameleon tailored fabrics and accessories and launching a “new pink” and “new orange” for the tailored fabrics and accessories.  The “new pink” will be the same pink as the pink Bee and the “new orange” will be the same orange as the orange Frog.

Finally, you asked and Bugaboo listed.  The canvas tailored fabrics will be available in some bright fun colors: “new” pink, “new orange” and dark blue.  They are expected mid-May.  The red, dark brown, sand, dark blue, off white and black are available now.

For the fleece tailored fabrics, the “new” pink, “new” orange and dark blue will be available mid-May as well as the black, red and sand which are currently available.  The yellow, green, bright blue, “old” pink, “old” orange are being phased out and will only be available while supplies last.

Footmuffs and parasols will also be available in the new colors (”new” pink, “new”orange and dark blue) in mid-May and other older colors (yellow, green, bright blue, “old” pink and “old” orange) are being phased out and only available as supplies last.

Finally, Bugaboo is coming out with a new product- the Bugaboo blanket- which is designed to match your Bugaboo stroller.  They have blanket lines for the Cameleon, Frog and Bee.  The dimensions of the blanket are 30″ x 40″.  One side will be a soft fleece in black and the other side will be a soft microfleece in the coordinating Bugaboo stroller colors.  On the colored side of the blanket, there will be a Bugaboo circle logo in the center and a small Bugaboo logo flag on the bottom right of the blanket edge.  The price will be $59.95.  They will be available March 2008.

Bugaboo also told me that they are working on getting a wheeled board with universal adapter clips so it can be used on the Cameleon, Frog and Bee but it probably won’t be anytime before 2009.

Other than the debut of the Bee, this is big news for Bugaboo lovers since we haven’t seen much change on the Cameleon for a while!  My trusty Cameleon has been getting me and my thirteen month old through the snow here in Cleveland with no problems.  My daughter could not look cuter in her dark grey/pink Bug with matching footmuff, but all of the new color combinations have already got me thinking…..

Do you know when the cameleon stroller will get the new eva foam tires? Will the stores in Canada receive them? I have been looking at the cameleon and my husband does not like the tires on the strollers, he said will end up with flat tires all the time.

If it will not be available in Canada, can you recommend where in the United States I can get one.

Hi Mary-  I have no information about Bugaboo in Canada.  I would suggest contacting Bugaboo directly and they should have the information you need.  The EVA foam tires will begin phasing in around March 2008 here in the U.S.  Retailers in the U.S. are not permitted to ship to Canada per our retailer agreement with Bugaboo.  If you can get it shipped within the U.S. and have someone get it to you, I’d recommend us, of course! :)   Hope that helps- Erika

Do you know where i can see pictures of the new camelion colors? or when we will be able to see them? Hi Mariel- there are no pictures of the new colors as of yet.  I’d keep my eye on Bugaboo’s website at www.bugaboo.com since they will probably be up there first.  Thanks- Erika

Hi! Has anyone heard if Bugaboo will be adding new features to compete with the Peg Perego Skate (i.e., seat raises and lowers, etc.)? Thanks! Hi Maria-  There are no new features planned on the Bugaboo strollers except the change on the handlebar on the Cameleon and the change to EVA foam tires.  Have you taken a look at the I’coo targo?  One of the best features of it is that you can raise and lower the seat.  Check it out!  Erika

Hi can you tell me if the rumors I heard that there is going to be a twin bugaboo true?? Hi Ann- Nothing has been confirmed by Bugaboo as we have been asking them this for years.  They told me they hope to have a double *one day* but they haven’t even gotten an engineer yet to start thinking it up.  So, short answer is- not anytime soon!  Erika

  6. Veronica Says:

Will the 2008 Bugaboo come in denim as well?  Hi Veronica- As of now, Bugaboo is only offering the Denim Special Edition in the 2007 version which is still available.  Thanks- Erika

  7. Kristin Says:

Do you think that the new “dark blue” for the cameleon is the same color as the “navy” for the frog? I don’t like the blue for the bee or old blue for the cameleon.

I really want the cameleon but only if it is a true navy blue like the frog.

    What do you think?  Thanks!

Hi Kristin-  Thanks for your post (and your email!).  The Cameleon Navy is definitely more like the Frog Navy and less like the Cameleon/Bee Bright Blue.  I haven’t seen it yet (it should be up on the websites April 1st and is available for purchase May 1st) but I was told it is a bit brighter than the Navy Frog but pretty close.  Check back at the beginning of April for images.  Thanks- Erika

    Hi

Can you please confirm that there is now a travel bag specifically for the Bee? We are visiting from Australia and want to buy our Bee and take it on the rest of the journey with us. There seems to be a Bee specific bag available in the UK but I can’t find it on a US site yet.

Also, completely off topic, do you guys have the Phil and Ted T2 travel cots available over there or do I have to bring one with me?

    Thanks- Vanessa

Hi Vanessa- Bugaboo only makes one travel bag and it works with all Bugaboo models.  There is not a travel bag specific to the Bee (at least here in the U.S.).  We do not carry the T2 travel cots at our store, but they are available here in the U.S.  Hope that helps- Erika

  9. Mindy Says:

Will there be a Bee Peg Perego car seat adapter? If so, do you know when it is expected to be released? Thanks!

Hi Mindy-  The very latest from Bugaboo is that they have been unable to get the Peg or Maxi Cosi adapters for the Bee to pass safety testing.  The Bee Graco adapter bar is one large piece (similar to the Graco Cameleon/Frog adapter bar) and the Peg and Maxi Cosi bars are two small adapters that attach to each side of the stroller.  They are trying to find a way to make them more secure but they haven’t worked that out yet so right now, according to Bugaboo, only the Graco adapter bar will be available for the Bee.  We will continue to keep you posted.  Thanks- Erika

    Hi– When is the 2008?

  11. Tom Says:

    Hi-
Does anyone know of a diaper bag that works with the Bugaboo Bee - ie. one that securely fastens to the handle bar? We have a skip hop that supposedly clips to the stroller, but find that it slips down the handle bar. We love our Bee but just can’t seem to negotiate the diaper bag situation!

    Thanks!

  12. MICHELLE Says:

i have recently purchased a 2008 bugaboo cameleon with dark grey base and new pink tailored fabric. i was wondering if you could tell me if there will be a diaper bag cover to match anytime soon and if so were could i purchase the bag and cover as i am in the uk thanx  Hi Michelle- We actually don’t sell the Bugaboo diaper bags so I don’t have an answer to your question.  Sorry!  Erika

  13. Yinelly Says:

I just bought the bugaboo cameleon limited edition and I’m confused because its the 2008 model I know this because of the wheels its the new EVA foam tires but why the fabric on the denim says 007? and also on the warehouse they probably got confused because i got the maintenance kit and the big wheels dont need them for the fact that they are
the foam ones I mean I don’t see anything that I could pump it the little thing where you connect the pump its not there!! and it looks very different from the frogs wheels… please write me back so that i know….

Hi Yinelly-  I would check with the retailer where you bought your Denim Cameleon or contact Bugaboo directly.  It was my understanding that the Denim Cameleon was a 2007 version but I would follow up with your retailer directly.  Hope that helps- Erika
