New stuff on the horizon for Phil & Teds

Amy and I were just in Las Vegas for the ABC Kids Expo and our heads are still spinning from visiting the Regal Lager booth where we saw the debut of the new Phil & Teds strollers.  Regal Lager took their beloved Sport Buggy (one of our favorites) and spawned off three new versions of the stroller.  It was pretty confusing at first, but let me try to break it down for you so it all makes sense.

There will be four versions of the Phil & Teds single stroller with doubles kit and we will be carrying two of the lines- the Original Sport Buggy which is currently available (and also is now available in a fun and vibrant pink camo for all those parents out there that want a “girly” Phil & Teds) and the new Vibe Buggy which is due out in November.  The Vibe Buggy was originally supposed to be called the GT but they have changed the name.  The Vibe is the stroller for the parent who already has the Bugaboo or other upscale single that wants the top of the line as they move from a single to a double.

Before I tell you more about the Vibe below, I will mention the other versions that they are releasing (that won’t be available at StrollerMama).  First is the Phil & Teds Classic Buggy.  It is basically the older version of the Sport Buggy- the e3.  It doesn’t have all of the wonderful features and improvements they made to the Sport Buggy (adjustable handlebar, recline on the doubles kit) and it is only being offered in red.  The concept is to offer parents the convenience of the Phil & Teds stroller in a stripped down version at a lower price point ($299 for the stroller, $79.95 for the doubles kit).  While we like the idea in theory, we love the Sport Buggy too much and feel as moms and Phil & Teds users ourselves, the Sport Buggy is a better stroller and a better investment

The other new stroller is the Phil & Teds Dash Buggy.  Amy and I were on the fence on this one and ultimately decided that we were going to focus on the Vibe Buggy as an upgrade to the Sport Buggy.  The Dash will sell for $499 for the stroller and $99.95 for the doubles kit.  It is being marketed as the Phil & Teds stroller in between the Sport Buggy and the Vibe Buggy.  New features include an new positioning of the brake at the handlebar, easier recline mechanism on the main seat, different styling, a larger storage basket and more cushioning.  The doubles kit still has a slight recline, is more cushioned and the top of the seat is more covered than the Sport Buggy.  It only comes in red and black.  Again, while we liked the concept of the stroller, our original thoughts were that we actually prefered the Sport Buggy the best, then really liked the Vibe more than the Dash for the “boutique” Phil & Teds stroller.  It will be interesting to see how this one is liked by parents.

So, on to the good stuff- the Vibe Buggy!  This is the “fancy” Phil & Teds stroller that has been much anticipated by all.  We know that many of our parents want the most high-end strollers on the market and Phil & Teds wanted to put their hat in the ring.  While we adore the Sport Buggy and it is a terrific fit for most of our families, the Vibe Buggy is for our parents that want the functionality of the Sport Buggy, but want something more exclusive.

Besides the new streamlined styling of the Vibe Buggy (it looked much different than the Sport Buggy in Vegas), the other unique features are the ligherweight aluminum frame and the ability to fold the stroller with the doubles kit in the rear position.  Although folding the stroller with the doubles kit on in the back was a little tricky, I’m sure once you do it a few times it would easy to master.  This was a feature that many of our parents wanted and Phil & Teds listened.

The aluminum frame is designed to make the stroller the lightest weight of the models and the frame really made the stroller look much different than the Sport Buggy.  It was a clean and sleek look- more streamlined and modern.  The seats, both front and back, are substantially more plush.  The doubles kit is fully covered (no exposed bar like on the Sport Buggy) and has a slight recline mechanism, the brake is now on the handlebar and the storage basket is larger.  It will be available in black and red.  The price on the Vibe Buggy is $599 for the stroller and $129.95 for the doubles kit.

Also, keep in mind that we learned that each stroller line has their own accessory line which also makes things a little tricky (especially for us!).  It is something to keep in mind if you want to upgrade from an older model that storm covers and sun covers and the like are not interchangeable between models.

At the end of the day, Amy and I think the Sport Buggy will remain the bread and butter of Phil & Teds- tried and true.  We think the Vibe Buggy is going to be perfect for our boutique parents that only want the best of the best- the functionality, the style and aren’t phased by the price tag to get something unique and exclusive.  The Sport Buggy is available now at StrollerMama and the Vibe should be available March 15, 2008.

Ooooh, perfect timing to read this. I’ve been obsessing about researching strollers yesterday and today for the third or fourth time in a couple months, and I just hit the point today of re-adding P&T to the list.

Here’s our situation: My daughter just turned 3, but is on the tall/light side at roughly 38 inches and 28 pounds. #2 child is due in mid-March (so dd will be 3-1/2). We’re moving to Vienna, Austria sometime in December or January, and as we’re selling our cars, a good — no, great — stroller is an absolute must. I originally struck the SportBuggy from my shortlist in favor of the Valco TriMode w/Toddler seat, as it would still allow cargo room when both kiddos are riding. Now, I’m thinking that really, until #2 is six months old (so #1 hits 4), I’m likely to be slinging/carrying baby while dd rides, with only sporadic use of a second seat.

Anyway, after that long intro, does it look to you guys like the Vibe (with its larger storage space) would be worth the wait for me? Or, would a SportBuggy with either the saddlebags or backpack serve just as well? Guess I should also add that my reason for reconsidering the SB is its (lack of) width. I still love the idea of having a reversible seat — so if you see other options, I’m all ears! (Other recent considerations: Cameleon (small storage), RAD, Quinny Buzz (ditton on storage) if that helps…)  Thanks!

Hi Alison- Nice to hear from you!  The first thing you need to decide is if you need a double or want to go with a single.  If you can do a single (perhaps with a ride-on board), you could do the Bugaboo or similar stroller with a reversible seat which really is a nice feature.  Your older daughter is a good age for the wheeled board.  If you feel that you need a double, you could go with the Vibe or the Sport Buggy- both are good choices.  The Vibe is definitely more plush and upscale.  In terms of storage, I would definitely suggest the pannier bags for either model if you need storage and you are using it as a double. I’d be happy to help steer you in the right direction if you want to call or email us, too.  You can call at (866) 293-5642 or email us at info@strollermama.com.  Thanks, Alison!  Best, Erika

Hi Ladies, I LOVE your blog and I am SO excited to hear about the Vibe. We know we need a stroller than converts from a single to a double, because our DD will only be 19 mos when her little brother comes along in April. I have done a lot of research, and had come to the conclusion that the P+T was the best choice, but as hard as I tried I couldnt get 100% excited about it because I am not in love with the “sporty style” of the Sport. Does the vibe seem like it will be a little more……cant think of the right word……elegant? Or maybe a little less sportsy looking? Hi Nicola- Yes, you are right with your thoughts about the look of the Vibe.  The Vibe is being marketed as the stylish Phil & Teds.  In addition to having more features than the Sport Buggy, the frame, fabric and overall look is more sleek.  I think it may be exactly what you are looking for.  As soon as we get images from the distributor, we will put them up on our website.  Thanks, Nicola!  Take care- Erika

Hi, I really hope the new Phil&Ted’s is what I’m looking for. I have two kids (4yrs-about 43lbs and 2yrs-about 33lbs). I have or I should say had the P&T’s e3 tandem until we were in an accident last week and have spent hours trying to decide what we buy to replace it. We live in the city so I would like the flexibility to have both kids ride but hate the idea of the side by side (going thru doors or shopping). I love the P&T concept but we are at the max weight limits for the current models. Do you know if the weight capacities (esp for the second seat) will go up with the new models? If not, do you have a recommendation for another brand? I’m considering the Bob Revolution and looking into a ride-along attachment although that isn’t ideal and also the Valco with the second seat and hitchhiker but my kids may be too big for this option as well. I will wait for the new P&T if my kids will be able to ride together at least for another year. Thanks!

Hi Agnes- Sorry for the delay in my reply.  I was waiting to hear back from the distributor and they confirmed that the weight limits will remain unchanged for the new models.  It is 50 lbs. for the front seat and 33 lbs. for the back seat.  That won’t work well for your situation, unfortunately.

You could technically use the Valco with toddler seat as each seat has a weight limit of 45 lbs but I think your kids would be too big- especially the one in the main seat as they won’t have any room to put their legs.  You could do the single Valco with Hitchhiker.  You could also do the single Bob Revolution with a ride-on board.  Or, you could go to a SBS that will easily fit both kids.  It’s alot more stroller, but they will both be able to ride comfortably.  If you have more questions, just shoot us an email at info@strollermama.com and we can help try to find the best colution for you.  Hope that helps- Erika

Hi, I just have a couple questions about the Vibe. Will it still have the ability to put the second seat on the top AND drop the back compartment of the main seat all the way flat for a newborn in the cacoon? Is it possible to add a kiddy or buggy board to this model? Also… is it really going to be here soon? Thanks!!!! Nicole Hi Nicole- Yes, the Vibe works in newborn/toddler position (as you described above) and also toddler/toddler postion just like the Sport Buggy.  It also can take a Kiddy Board (just not with the doubles kit attached).  They are telling us it should be shipping mid-December.  Hope that helps- Erika

  5. Karen Says:

Hi, Thanks your comprehensive overview of the Vibe. I have just bought the P&T Sport, but it is still in the store and — based on your review — I expect it will stay there now. However, I have not been able to get anything conclusive on the distribution date. My stockists contacted P&T and they said that they have not started the production run as yet — does this mean there has been a further delay? I find it quite odd that there is so much secrecy around the launch of this stroller. Hi Karen- We were just notified by the distributor this week that there are new delays on the the new P&T lines.  The Vibe and accessories are now not expected until mid-January.  They are still in production and not “on the water” yet.  Delays like this are quite common in the stroller business- they want to make sure the product is right before they launch it.  Hopefully, it will be available mid-January…..  Hope that helps- Erika

  6. Jess Says:

Hi, I have the E3 and a 13 month old with a baby due in April. of course the Sport came out after we had purchased and used the E3. We have loved the E3, but now, with #2 on the way, I have some questions I am hoping you can help with. I am contemplating selling our gently loved E3 and purchasing a Sport - is it worth it? Are the changes from the E3 to the sport worth doing so, or should I just stick with the E3. Or should we now wait and check out Dash? My biggest issues with the E3 are the fairly small and inflexible sun cover/lack of sun protection and the smallish basket that is hard to access depending on the seat location. Also, we have not yet purchased the double seat - can we purchase the newer seat if we stick with the E3 or do we need to purchase one of the older ones?
    Thank you!!!!

Hi Jess- I, too, have the e3 and I was unsure about whether or not to upgrade to the Sport Buggy when it came out.  For me, I ultimately decided to stick with my e3 based on our family situation.  The two features that I like the most that the Sport Buggy has that the e3 lacks are the adjustable handlebar and the recline on the doubles kit.  For me, it wasn’t worth it to upgrade since my e3 was in great shape.  The canopy on the Sport Buggy is slightly improved, but not by much and I haven’t noticed a difference in the basket.

Although the distributor does not technically recommend it, we have parents that have bought the Sport doubles kit for their e3 since the fabrics are the same and then they can get the recline on the seat.  You have time before #2 comes so you might want to check out the new models.  We weren’t blown away with the Dash but we loved the Vibe.  But, I’d probably stick with your e3 if you are just considering upgrading to the Sport Buggy.  Hope that helps- Erika

  7. lisa Says:

Hi Erika, I am impressed with the efforts that you took to reply to the questions. Thanks in advance! My second baby is due March 1, and it will be about 23 months age age with my older son. Hence, i am definitely looking at a double stroller. Do you think the features of Vibe are substantially better to justify the wait or should I just proceed to buy Sport now? Also, does mud guard come with the stroller and what other accessories would you strongly recommend with the stroller? Thanks again.

Hi Lisa- I think it would probably be worth waiting to check out the Vibe.  Now, we only saw the prototype in September but it was really cool and they hope to make it the “Bugabooish” Phil & Teds double.  You have some time and you can always get a Sport Buggy if it doesn’t make it out in time or if you just don’t like the Vibe.  There are some nice features on the Vibe and the look is really different so if I were you I’d try to hang tight for a while to see if it comes out before your second is due so you can take a look at it.

Regarding accessories, the wheels guards come standard with the stroller so you don’t need to worry about that.  I would recommend the Pannier Bags if you have a toddler riding in the back and you need storage.  Their legs will be in the basket so if you need storage, it solves that issue.  Other popular accessories that people use are the travel bag if they want to fly with the stroller, the double storm and/or sun cover and some sort of cup holder- either the hangbag or one of the Carry You accessories.  If you have any other questions, please let us know!  Thanks- Erika

  8. Erica Says:

Hello– Do you have any new information on when the Dash and/or Vibe will be available? Is it still expected in mid-January? We’re in the market for a new stroller, and we are not sure whether to wait for the new versions or not. Thanks! Hi Erica- Bad news.  The Vibe has been delayed until March 15, 2008 (and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were further delays based on the track record of the distributor).  If you need the stroller soon, I’d definitely suggest going with the Sport Buggy.  Hope that helps- Erika

  9. Valerie Says:

Will the infant seat situation work the same as with the Sport? Only when in single mode and with the correct adapter? Will the P & T’s carseat work without an adapter… and is it recommended (the seat)? Thanks! Hi Valerie- The infant seat situation will work the same as with the Sport- only in single mode and with the correct adapter.  I don’t have specific information about how the P&T infant seat will work- we weren’t so juiced about it when we saw it so we are not sure if we are going to carry it or not.  We’ll have to see when it comes out.  Hope that helps- Erika

    Hi Erika
I’m in the market for a stroller. I’ve been lugging my 6 month old around in slings and at 10kgs it’s almost time to invest. I love the idea of the stokke xplory with it’s higher sitting height compared to other strollers but i love all the other features of a P&T. Do you think it would be stable enough to use the toddler seat in the higher position even thoug #2 isn’t a twinkle ih his dad’s eye? The vibe with it’s lighter weight and ability to stow both seats away sounds ideal otherwise!  Hi Therese-  Although the Phil & Teds is a great stroller and a perfect fit for many of our parents, I think there are other single strollers out there that would probably be a better choice for you. While it is often smart to think ahead by getting something that can convert to a double, if you can swing it, I always think it is better to invest in a single that has the features you need now.  Have you considered the I’coo Targo?  It is coming out in February and the seat raises up and down and would hit that high position that you are craving.  Check out the video on our website- I think it would be a great choice for you!  It is an amazing stroller! Hope that helps- Erika

  11. Jill Says:

Thanks for all the great information! I am in a month and my two will be 19 months apart, so I am definitely interested in a P&T. Just debating between the upgraded Sport and the Vibe (I’ve ruled out the Dash). I liek the idea of lighter weight and especially the fold feature. I will be in and out of the car, so not having to detach the doubles seat seems like a huge advantage. So it will not fold together though in the newborn/toddler position then, correct? I’d have to take off the front doubles kit to fold it if I were using with my newborn? Given the new ship date, I considered just going for the sport, but considering I may not use it quite as much at the very beginning, I’m thinking of waiting. Also, can you list out the new features (besides the styling) that I’d be getting with the Vibe over the Sport? THANKS so much for your help!!

Hi Jill- Thanks for your post!  The Vibe will fold with the doubles kit in both infant/toddler and toddler/toddler mode.  That is actually one of the big advantages of the Vibe.  Right now, the Sport Buggy only folds in infant/toddler mode but the Vibe will fold in both modes.  In terms of your timing, if you want to wait for the Vibe, you might be okay.  According to the latest information from our rep, our expected ship date for the Vibe is 3/15 so we are less than a month away.  The strollers are “on the water” which is always a great sign and mean they are actually really on their way here!  Some added features that the Sport Buggy does not have is the brake being on the handlebar, a larger basket, more plush seats and a lightweight aluminum frame.  Plus, the look of the Vibe is going to be more streamlined and sophisticated.  The base color will be black but it will also be available in red which really means black with red accents.  My full review of the Vibe is in my other Phil & Teds Post about what we saw at the ABC Kids Expo in September if you want to read my thoughts on the Phil & Teds lines in detail.  If you have more questions, please let me know!  Thanks- Erika

This has been the most helpful site for when researching the P&T. Although you made a great case for the Vibe, I’m still torn between the Vibe and Dash. When looking at the pictures the Dash looks like it has more leg/feet room. The footplate looks a lot wider than the one on the Vibe. Also the canopy on the on the Dash looks like it extends out and down better. I have a two year old boy 37 inches and 38 pounds and a five month old who is going to be big as well. I’m concerned about leg room.  I am glad to hear that you can add a Buggy Board since I assume my two year old will not be riding for long. That is one reason for not purchasing a standard double. Thank you.

Hi Amanda- I’m so glad you found the blog helpful.   It will be interesting to see how the Dash does on the market.  We weren’t overly impressed with it so we will have to see what happens.  We’d love to hear your feedback once you make a decision!  Best of luck- Erika

  13. Jo Says:

What a great site! I am strollerless and need some advice!!!Unfortunately I had to take my beautiful blue camo sport buggy back. I had 2 major problems with it. Firstly, I found it impossible to take the brake off with my foot (I had to to use my hand). It was so stiff that it often woke my baby up with such a jolt. The second problem was the short stride length. When I walked on the flat, and even worse going downhill, my feet would kick the axle. The handle seems too short… I’m 5 foot 7 inches, so tall but not heaps tall. I’m not the only person with this problem, another mother took her sport back for the same reasons. I was so lucky that the store I purchased it from were so accomodating. They suggested a mountain buggy but we bought the P & T’s for the doubles option. Have you heard of these probelms before? I LOVED my stroller and miss it, but was so frustrated using it…I am hoping the new Dash might have a longer stride length and the brake on the handle will surely be alot easier to use? Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Jo- Thanks for your post.  We have heard from some taller parents that they have had issues with the doubles kit in the rear position interfering with their stride.  We don’t currently sell the Dash so I can’t really comment on that model.  We do have the Vibe and I think the new hand brake would solve the tight brake issue you are having with your Sport Buggy.  In terms of the stride issue, I think you will likely run into similar issues as the rear seat is not in that different of a position than the Sport Buggy.  I would definitely try to check it out in person if you can.  Let us know if you have more questions.  Thanks- Erika

  14. Asmeret Says:

    Hi,

Thank God for your blog, I’m torn between buying the Sport or waiting for the Vibe which is a bit pricy. I’ve a 2 year old and a second one due in May. I curious to know what was NOT impressing about the Dash.

With the Vibe, will the second child on the second sit be able to recline properly without having some kind of a bar on his/her head? and is the basket really bigger?

thank you very much for all your answers, its a very big help!!!!

Hi Asmeret-  I’m glad you have found our blog helpful!  We saw the Dash at a trade show in September and Amy and I remember thinking that it wasn’t that much better than the Sport Buggy but not as good as the Vibe.  We really love the Sport Buggy and felt that the Vibe was also very exciting.  We thought the Dash was just stuck in the middle and we weren’t that excited about it.

The doubles kit of the Vibe has a covered frame but if you have a taller child riding in the back, you will have the same issues with the recline as you have with the Sport Buggy with the bar in the back.   The basket on the Vibe is bigger (not much) but it is bigger.  Hope that helps- Erika

  15. Morgan Says:

Hi there! I just found your site today and am LOVING it. So great to have reviews of a bunch of strollers in one place! I have a 19 month old son and a 3 week old son, and we just found out we are moving to NYC in the fall, so we are definitely in the market for an awesome double stroller. I had decided that the P&T sport was the stroller of my dreams quite a while ago, but just found out about the vibe today. The new folding feature sounds so great. Is the vibe going to have a car seat adapter kit? Which do you think will be better for city living? The vibe or sport? Thanks so much!

Hi Morgan-  Glad you like the blog!  I always love to hear from parents that find it helpful!  I think you can’t go wrong with either the Sport or the Vibe.  The Vibe will only be compatible with the Yet-to-be-released P&T infant seat for the near future.  We are hoping it will get an adapter bar for the major infant seats like the Sport Buggy but that is not in the near future according to the distributor.

The Vibe is a bit lighter than the Sport Buggy and you can fold it in both infant/toddler and toddler/toddler mode, although getting used to the fold (especially with the doubles kit on the back) can take some practice.  But, if you need to get on and off of public transportation, the fold of the Vibe in both positions might make a big difference for you in NYC.

The look of the Vibe is more “urban” and designed to be more sleek and upscale.  The neoprene seat covers are quite plush and more comfortable for a child, I think, than the seat on the Sport Buggy.  I really like the handbrake on the Vibe and the sun canopy is also more generous.  That being said, I still love my Sport Buggy and I don’t find it difficult to pop the seat off the back (but remember, I live in suburban Cleveland and I throw everything in the back of my minivan unlike my old life in NYC when I lived on the Upper West Side with no car……)  The best advice I can give you is to try to find somewhere locally to play with both models in person.  That is really the best way to decide.  We also hope to have new videos up on our site in early May.  Hope that helps- Erika

  16. Jack Says:

Hi, It was great reading your reviews, I love the site.

I just wondered if you shipped to the UK? If not no worries but wondered if you could help me with a query anyway?

Basically in the Uk we only have the Sport model to buy at the moment, we dont get the Vibe model until August I think!
So I am in a dilema!!! I have a 2.7 year old and a 7 month old. We have done without a double buggy so far but I really want to do a bit more walking (mainly about town) and so we now need to invest in a double one and we were about to buy the sports model from the Uk when I saw the vibe reviews online.

We obviously cant try out the Vibe model ourselves but for me it seems silly to buy a sport if there is a better version of it available (even if a bit pricier). So in theory we could get it shipped from the States (god help us if there is something wrong with it!) but its an option!

In your opinion if you had to buy one in my position would you opt for the sport or the vibe? Is the vibe a lot bigger when folded down compared to the sports one? Would you say that the vibe is really just an improved version of the sport or are there any drawbacks to the vibe that the sport doesnt have?

I would really appreciate your opinion & help on this!

    Thanks very much

Hi Jack-  Thanks for your post.  We can ship the Vibe to you in the UK.  Feel free to contact us at info@strollermama.com and we would be happy to get you a shipping quote.  You should be aware that the warranty will be an issue once you take the stroller out of the U.S.  We have heard that foreign Phil & Teds distributors may help international customers with problems but even that would be tricky for you since it hasn’t be released over there and there will be no parts, etc.  Just something to consider.

The Vibe is a great stroller- it looks terrific and has a generous sun canopy (bigger than the Sport Buggy).  It is definitely bigger than the Sport Buggy- one of our local customers was surprised that it didn’t lie flat in the back of her minivan well like her e3 (older version of Sport Buggy) did.  The hand brake is wonderful and it pushes very well.  One of the big advantages is being able to fold it with the doubles kit on the back.  I haven’t quite mastered this yet and, frankly, so far I find it easier just to pop it off like the Sport Buggy.  I’m sure with more practice it will become easier.

Which to choose?  I think it is a real toss up.  I really still love the Sport Buggy but the Vibe definitely feels a bit more upscale.  The Vibe is so new- I need to play with it more to make a final decision.  Hope that helps- Erika

  17. Chele Says:

I might have skipped over this bit of info…but, I was wondering if there is a carseat adapter for the new Dash?

Oh, and which model has the largest footrest? The Vibe’s doesn’t look like much of a footrest at all, but I’ve found that stock photo’s can be decieving…

    Thanks!

Hi Chele-  We don’t carry the Dash so I can’t answer your question about the car seat adapter.  The footplate on the Vibe is comparable to the Sport footrest.  I think the picture makes it look smaller than it actually is in real life.  Hope that helps- Erika

  18. Addie Says:

I have pretty much made up my mind that the P & T sport is the stroller that I will invest in, but I wanted to see if you think that another is better suited for my needs. I have 3 kids: 5 y/o - 40 pounds - 42 inches, 2 1/2 y/o - 31 pounds, 36 inches, and a three month old baby. I thought that this could work b/c I wouldn’t have to have both a single and a double stroller. I wear my baby in my Moby Wrap mostly, so I thought that this would be good for the older two for a few months longer. Then I could use it as a single until the baby outgrows the Moby. I definitely appreciate your expertise and thanks for the evaluation :)

Hi Addie-  I think you have a great plan!  Just remember that the double kit in back has weight limit of 33 lbs. so your 2.5 year old doesn’t have much time left back there!  But, I think you know this since you said you can then use it as a single stroller until the baby outgrows the Moby wrap (which I’ve heard nice things about!)  I love the Sport Buggy and my kids love riding in the Phil & Teds.  Well laid plans if you ask me! :)   Erika

  19. Jen Says:

Do you carry the car seat adaptor for the Vibe? I was told this will be unavailable until June/July? Is this true?

Is there a buggy board that fits the Phil & Ted’s Vibe?

Also, when will the Dash be in?

    Sorry so many questions! Thanks!

Hi Jen-  For now, the only car seat that will work with the Vibe will be the new Phil & Teds infant seat which is expected in mid-June.  There will not be an car seat adapter for other infant seats (like there is for the Sport Buggy).

In terms of ride-on boards, the Kiddy Board will work with the Sport Buggy but not the Vibe.  There is fabric on the rear axle of the Vibe so there is no place to attach the Kiddy Board.  According to the distributor, it may be possible to use the Buggy Board with the Vibe but they need to test it and see if it will fit and we don’t know yet.

We will not be carrying the Dash but I’ve heard it should be available sometime in May.  Let us know if you have any other questions!  Thanks- Erika

I have a quick question for you. we have the E3 and now that spring is here and the sun is out, we are having major issues with sun in our 18 mos old eyes. I am due in 2 weeks. Wondering a couple of things:
    1. Are there any sun shade accessories that you all sell or recommend for the E3 to help when we are walking into the sun?
    2. Have they solved this problem with the Sport? Should I look into upgrading?

Hi there-  You could do a couple of things.  First, you could try to find the e3 double sun cover that is made specifically for the e3.  We don’t carry the e3 accessories anymore but you might be able to find one somewhere else.

There would be no reason to upgrade from the e3 to the Sport for the sun issue.  You are going to have basically the same issue with both strollers.

The other suggestion I have would be to get some Protect-a-Bub sunshades.  You can get the backseat tandem sunshade for the rear seat of the e3 and the single sunshade for the front.  This combination works nicely.   Hope that helps- Erika

Hi - we’re expecting #2 in May and want to ditch the bugaboo for a P&T. we love the Sport, but find (at least in stores) the footbrake pretty difficult to deal with, especially when the second seat is on. we’re also worried about when Grandma tries to engage/remove the brake with a sleeping child or two. we both found ourselves really jerking the stroller around to get it to work. The Vibe eliminates this issue, but we weren’t thrilled about spending another $300 or so for a handbrake. are we the only ones who find the Sport brake difficult to use? does it just have to break in a bit? anything we’re missing?
also, when we checked out the Vibe’s infant seat mode (the full unzipped dropdown), it seemed the Sport was sturdier than the Vibe. any thoughts? it’s possible the store didn’t have it setup properly, but it seemed a bit unsteady.
lastly, we understand that P&T doesn’t recommend using the carseat adapter in the front with the toddler in the rear seat, but we see parents doing it all over nyc. is this b/c of tipover? assuming this is the same with the vibe……really hate to lose the snap-and-go benefits…..thanks in advance

Hi there- The footbrake on the Sport Buggy is pretty tough.  I actually talked to the distributor about that issue and they told me that it is designed like that for safety reasons.  I agree that it is not the smoothest of brakes but I find that the other positive features of the stroller outweigh that.

The doubles kit on the Vibe is not less sturdy than the Sport Buggy.  The aluminum frame is very sturdy and I have not seen that myself or heard that from other parents.  Maybe the store where you saw it did not have it locked in properly.

Regarding “illegally” rigging up the Phil & Teds by using an infant seat adapter up front and putting a rider in the back- I have never actually seen someone try that here in Cleveland.  Honestly, I don’t see how a child could actually fit in the back seat since you need to recline the front seat so far.  But, I certainly don’t recommend it for liability reasons.  It hasn’t been safety tested for that.  It is not recommended and we don’t mess around with stuff like that!  Hope that helps! Hi….Okay….LOVE this blog. So, I am barely 5 weeks pregnant and my son will be 15 mo when number 2 is born. And, I know that I am getting ahead of myself….but looking at strollers. I currently have a bugaboo cameleon and LOVE IT!!! I am kinda bummed that I won’t get as much use out of it than I thought I would. So, I will need a doubles stroller. I lost the majority of my 1st prego weight pushing my bugaboo….and I want to be able to do the same the 2nd time. I know that you probably already answered this….but, newborn and toddler can ride together with doubles kit. It appears that the newborn is kinda “under” then toddler. Is there any viewing window for the newborn?

Car Seat adapter: Is there one? I read that it is coming (written back in march). Can you use the infant car seat adapter and put the toddler in the back seat?

Sunshade: it can only fully cover front or back seat….not both?

Hi Kaylee-  Thanks for your nice words about our blog and congrats on expecting again!  Phil & Teds now actually had four different inline strollers.  You need to figure out which inline works for you.  They have the Classic, Sport, Dash and Vibe.  We are currently updating our website as the Classic and Dash will be new for us.  In terms of the newborn/toddler position, it would be perfect for your baby and 15 month old.  You cannot use a car seat when the stroller is a double (you can get an adapter for certain models to use as a single stroller), but the baby can lie flat in the main seat.  You can have eye contact with your baby and the back is open for them to see you.  There are also sunshades available for the single or the double.  The double sunshade covers both riders.  You should give us a call so we can help you figure out which inline buggy is right for you.  You can reach us at (866) 293-5642.  Best of luck!  Erika

hi i love p&t i owned version 1 which i loved up graded to the sport because of the upgrades the e3 was not different enough, and have had nothing but problems.screws comming out and missing either side of the handle hope there not really important and an anoying grinding noise from one of the rear wheels.the front wheel keeps goig into non swivil mode if bump up or down a curb was sent a new spring to mend this and now the rear wheel spring has failed which holds the wheel in and won’t stay in (i found this out when crossing the road and the wheel feel off)all this with a buggy just over a year old.have you heard of any of these problems?which is shame cause my version 1 was a solid work horse and was hoping the sport would be my race horse.

Hi Louise- I am really surprised by your review and I have not heard of these issues specifically.  However, I just came back from a two day session at Phil & Teds University in Atlanta and after seeing everything they do there in person, they should be able to help you with your issues.  I would contact Regal Lager directly- they seem to have a fix for any issue with any of their buggies.  You can find their contact information at www.regallager.com.  Their customer service is beyond superb so I would definitely get in touch with them.  Hope that helps- Erika

I have a quick question - do either the Sport or the Vibe take a car seat? I saw someone at the mall the other day with a car seat and a second child on the attachment. She said she had to buy a separate adaptor, but I can’t seem to find anything about it on the P&T web site.

Hi Christine- Thanks for your post.  At this time, the only Sport Buggy can work with an infant car seat with an adapter bar.  There is an adapter bar for the Graco, Peg and Maxi Cosi infant seats.  Please remember that you cannot use the infant seat adapter with a second child riding in the back seat.  The heavier child must ride up front or the stroller could tip.  If you want to use the infant seat adapter bar, you cannot use the stroller in doubles mode.  Hope that helps- Erika

Hello everyone.. love this site and I was reading some of the questions about the vibe. I love our vibe and use it with an “illegally” rigged up Graco Safe seat and with child seat under. If you place the front bar in the lower slots you can fit the car seat in place without putting the seat down. (however it dosn’t lock to anything….be warned) I think use your judgement as a parent. I have used it this way in the store for quick trips…but I wouldn’t do it this way where I’m going over bumps, though I have thought about making a “seat belt” to keep it secure. Also my boys are closer together in age so baby with car seat and my older boy about equal out in weight. So if it dosn’t feel “right” with your kids in the stroller please don’t try it. Kristina

***PLEASE BE AWARE THAT STROLLERMAMA, REGAL LAGER AND PHIL & TEDS DO NOT SANCTION USING THE STROLLER IN THIS WAY!  The heavier child is supposed to ride in the front seat.  The stroller has not been safety tested using an infant seat carrier with a second rider in the back.  It could cause the stroller to break or tip.  I posted this blog (thanks for your feedback, Kristina, but I just feel the need to clarify our postition) and my response because I want our parents to make sure they use the stroller according to the directions set forth by the manufacturer and distributor.***
