For all of those who are interested in the wonderful new infant seat- the Maxi Cosi Mico- and the Bugaboo Cameleon or Frog is your stroller of choice, you are in luck!  Bugaboo worked pretty fast and got their Maxi Cosi infant seat adapter bars safety tested and approved for the Cameleon and Frog.  We have them in stock and they are ready to ship out.  We also hope to have the Maxi Cosi adapter bars for the Bugaboo in Bee in stock sometime soon this fall!

wow this fall for the bee/maxi cosi adaptor? everyone else has been saying spring 08. that would be great if it were the case! best–Josh Hi Josh- For the Maxi Cosi Bee adapters first it was Fall 2007 and then it recently got pushed back to Q1 2008 (which is Jan-March 2008).  That is the latest from Bugaboo as of last week.  Thanks- Erika

Will Bugaboo be coming out with a Maxi Cosi adapter for the Gecko? Does anyone know? Thanks! Hi Catie- Yes, the Maxi Cosi Mico adapter currently available for the Frog/Cameleon will also work with the Gecko.  Thanks- Erika

Any update on the availability of the maxi-cosi mico adaptor for the bugaboo bee? Hi Frank- Bugaboo will not be releasing the Maxi Cosi Bee adapters since they did not pass safety testing.  Hope that helps- Erika

I work in a baby shop, and I had a Mico returned last week because the bugaboo adaptors (that are clearly marked for use with this seat) got STUCK in the carseat, making it unable to use as a carseat.

Not sure if this is a one-off issue, but according to a coworker, Bugaboo refused to accept responsibility, because they did not authorize the use of the Maxi Cosi seat w/ the Bugaboo. (Though the adaptor clearly says: “This product is only to be used in combination with a bugaboo undercarriage and in combination with the Maxi Cosi Citi, Mico, and Cabrio car seats.”)

My hubby was able to remove the adaptors w/ the help of a screw driver, but I don’t think the seat will ever attach to any stroller now. LOL

Hi Melissa-  Thanks for your feedback.  The car seat adapters for the Maxi Cosi that are approved in the U.S. are only for the Cameleon/Frog/Gecko.  If you used the adapter on your Bee, perhaps that is why Bugaboo was giving you a hard time since they were not approved for the U.S.

If they were the Cameleon/Frog/Gecko Maxi Cosi adapters, we have had a few customers that have also had issues with their adapter bars.  We even had a similar issue when we tested ours out on the floor at first until we realized we put them on the wrong sides (which has been the problem for our other customers, as well).  I think Bugaboo has changed their manual for the Maxi Cosi adapters to reflect this issue now because the old manual was a bit unclear as to which side which adapter needed to be put on.  I’m sorry you had such issues! :(   Erika

can i leave the adapters on the car seat in the car? is it safe? Hi Talia- No, you need to remove the adapters from the stoller and car seat.  You need to take them off the stroller in order to fold it and you need to make sure they are off the infant seat before you snap it into the base in your car.  Hope that helps- Erika

We just bought a bugaboo Camelion. We wanted to buy the Maxi cosi seat but after wrestling with it in the shop to get it on and off the Bugaboo we went with the Gracco instead. The Gracco is made by Rubbermaid and it looks terrible. It does not have the material comfort and style that the Maxi cosi has but - it works! The Mico adapters look identical - if you get them the wrong way round they jam in the car seat! It then requires considerable brute force (a guy) to pull them out! Assume you will be tired and cranky when using the seat - its bound to happen. You cannot fold the bugaboo without removing the adapters so they are bound to get mixed up. Even the right way round they are difficult to engage with the seat. There have also been problems installing the seat base in cars in North America. The shop we went to is no longer selling the Maxi Cosi as they have had huge problems with them. This is very dissapointing as the Maxi Cosi is a terrific seat….

Hi Simon-  Thanks so much for your feedback.  Amy and I have heard similar feedback from some of our other parents.  Specifically, other parents have told us that they have struggled with their Maxi Cosi adapters on their Cameleon.  It is essential that you put them in the proper side or you will really fight to get the car seat off!  (Although I would respectfully disagree that you need “a guy” to get them off- plenty of us moms out there have the biceps to do the job!)

We have heard from parents that the Graco adapter bar for the Cameleon is the easiest to use.  I used a Snugride with my Cameleon (I agree is wasn’t the most fashionable but it was safe and it worked!) and it is very easy to snap in and out.  Thanks for your feedback!  Erika
