The Buzz on the Bugaboo Bee
The world has been waiting for a new release from Bugaboo and it is finally here. Today we saw the debut of the Bugaboo Bee at the JPMA show. Bugaboo is using words like “nimble” and “compact” to describe the new stroller and it is! We weren’t sure what to expect at first- it was unusual looking- nothing else like it on the market and we wondered how it would perform. But, after a full demonstration, we were overly impressed and are eagerly awaiting its arrival in September.
The Bee will sell for $529.00 and comes with a black seat and a choice of five canopy colors: yellow, blue, red, black and dark khaki. It is the most compact Bugaboo stroller and is a complete infant to toddler travel system. It takes some of the most impressive features of the other Bugaboos and puts them in a more compact and lightweight stroller. We loved the fact that it was lightweight and still had a reversible seat and a huge height-adjustable handlebar. The performance that Bugaboo is known for is still there- all four six inch foam filled wheels have independent suspension and it really steered beautifully pushing with one hand.
It has a four position recline and also can take Graco, Peg and the new to the U.S. (coming in June!) Maxi Cosi infant seats. ***Edited on April 15. 2008 - The only infant seat adapters that are now available for the Bee are for the Graco infant seats- the Peg and Maxi Cosi adapter bars were not released due to safety testing issues.*** It also had some great coordinating accessories: an adorable baby nest which is perfect for a tiny baby to be all snuggled up in, footmuffs, parasols, sunshades and an all silver breezy sun canopy.
This is supposed to be the Bugaboo to throw in the car, carry on the subway or throw in a taxi. It is light and easy but with the quality Bugaboo is known for. The fold is easy and compact and a true one part fold versus the two part fold of the Cameleon and Frog. We left the Bugaboo booth all excited about the new Bee. We saw tons of people looking and pointing as they walked by and we think it is going to make a huge splash on the market this fall. It literally created the “buzz” Bugaboo was going for with their debut. We already have them on order and have been told they should be in our store by September 1st. Check back as we get closer to the release date for preordering details as we hope to have them available for preordering this summer. We think you are going to love the Bee!

Thanks so much for writing this review with all of the details! I’ve read about the Bee but haven’t been able to find the key details that I wanted to know like whether it can fit an infant seat, whether the seat is reversible, etc. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival - now we’ll hold off on the cameleon until we see the bee in person!!!

i have not found any info on the size range of the child that the bee will accomaodate?? Does it start at 0 months? What is the weight limit?? Thanks!
Hi, Melissa. The stroller is suitable from birth up and the weight limit is 37.5 lbs. Please let us know if you have more questions. Thanks- Erika

Do you know if the riding board can be attached to the bee? I like how the Bee sounds but definitely need a board to attach for my older daughter.
Hi, Bertha. Bugaboo intends to make a Wheeled Board that is compatible with the Bee but it will not be available in the fall. They don’t have a release date for it yet so I would guess it won’t be available until 2008. Thanks- Erika

Any update of an actual availibilty date and or when we can preorder? Will the Parasols from the Bugaboo Cameleon/Frog be compatible? Thanks
You can place your preorder now. We have sold out much of our order with a Septmber 1st ship date. We still have a few black, blue and dark khaki available for a 9/1 ship date. The yellow and red will ship October 2007 since we sold out of our preorders on those colors. The Cameleon/Frog parasols are not compatible with the Bee. There will be parasols specific to the Bee available late fall 2007. We should have preordering for those on our website soon. Thanks- Erika

I am little confused from the web site if the snow wheels can bee used on the new Bugaboo Bee. They show them under the link for the Bee accessories, but then it lists every other model that they can be used for. Do you know the conclusion? We just heard back from Bugaboo and the snow wheels are not compatible with the Bee. Hope that helps! Thanks- Erika

How much will the baby nest cost? The Baby Nest will be $99.99 when it becomes available. Thanks, Erika

I’ve read that the Bee will be compatibile with a Maxi Cosi car seat. Do you know what model of Maxi Cosi seat is going to work with the Bee? The only picture of the Bee with a Maxi Cosi seat that I have seen shows a Maxi Cosi CabrioFix seat. It is a European seat, but I don’t think it will be on the US market any time soon. The only infant car seat that I think will be available in the US is Maxi Cosi Mico. Is it the same seat, but under a different name? Do I need special adaptors for the seat? Are you going to sell car seats that go with the Bee? When are the car seats going to be available?
Hi Barb- The Bee will be compatible with the Maxi Cosi Mico infant seat. The Mico is the U.S. approved Maxi Cosi infant seat (The CabrioFix is the European version of the Maxi Cosi infant seat). I don’t know the specific differences between the two but I know it had to pass certain safety standards in the U.S. We are currently taking preorders (we won’t charge you until your order ships) and we are told the infant seats should be available mid-late August. Here is the link to the Maxi Cosi Mico: http://www.strollermama.com/mico.htm.
In order to use the infant seat with the Bee, you will need to purchase the Bugaboo adapter bar for the Maxi Cosi infant seat. It is a separate accessory and will also be available on our site as soon as we get the go ahead from Bugaboo. The Bee accessories will not be available at the launch of the stroller in September. We have been told it will be late 2007/early 2008 for car seat adapters for the Bee to be released. Take care, Erika

I notice in the only pictures I have been able to see that it appears the seat sort of always remains in a recline position, or am I not seeing it correctly? Does it actualy allow the child to sit upright? My baby is always pulling up to sit up straight which is so easy to do in the Cameleon. I want the BEE as I prefer the no hassle 1 step fold but I know my little one would not be happy in a reclined sitting position. Are there any mored etailed pictures of the seat possibly w/out the Canopy where this can be seen clearer? Also do I phone to place a preorder? THANKS Hi Diann- The Bee does allow the child to sit upright. Bugaboo has actually just added lots of new images and information about the Bee to their website at www.bugaboo.com. I’d suggest watching their Bee video- it is fun and you can see the stroller and accessories in action! We would be happy to take your preorder online or by phone. You can call us at (866) 293-5642. Thanks, Diann. Take care- Erika

Any update on when the car seat adaptors for the graco safeseat will be available? We definitely want to pre-order, but I’m nervous about not having the adaptors. Thanks!
July 30th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
When it will available in the united Arab emirates?
and which car seat adapter needs to be purchased along with it? Hi Raghida- Unfortunately, I have no information on international availability of the Bee. I would suggest contacting Bugaboo directly about that. The car seat adapter bars for the Bee will be available early 2008 and there will be adapters for the Graco, Peg and Maxi Cosi infant seats. Thanks- Erika

Is the Bugaboo Bee really an everyday stroller like the Cameleon, and not just a travel stroller?
The wheels don’t look nearly as sturdy as on the other Bugaboos.
Do you think it will stand up to all the bumps and concrete in the city? Hi Mia- Thanks for your post. The Bee is really designed to be an everyday stroller- especially for people living a more urban lifestyle. While there are not air tires like on the Cameleon, the four tires on the Bee each have their own independent suspension allowing for great handling of bumps. We weren’t sure what to think of the Bee when we first saw it but after we had a full demonstration, we were very impressed. I think it will be a great option for families who live in the city who want a perks of Bugaboo but something more easy to deal with than a Cameleon or Frog. Thanks-Erika

Hi,
I would like to know if for a new born it will be nice & cozy, or is
the baby nest a must? I also want to know if it can be laid back to 180 degrees for a new born to sleep.
Thanks. Hi Ari- I would definitely suggest getting the baby nest for a newborn. Since the Bee is more of a bare bones stroller (as opposed to the Frog or Cameleon) due to it’s lighter weight and ability to be more compact, the seat is not as plush. The baby nest is a wonderful way for a newborn to be cozy and snug. I do not know the exact degrees of recline but it is nearly flat is suitable from birth. Thanks- Erika
August 1st, 2007 at 6:13 am
Hi Erika, So If I require a nest it’s an additional 99$ to price of
stroller, to make it suitable for a new born….

Hi,
Please can you tell me if the Bugaboo Bee will suit an older toddler? I had a Cameleon but my boy was too big for it at 2 years and head poked through canopy. He now has a Maclaren stroller but I would love to get another Bugaboo but would like to know if it is designed for his age at 2 and half aswell a baby. Thank you. Hi Carla- Thanks for your questions. My gut feeling is that if your two year old was too tall for the Cameleon that you may have the same problem with the Bee. The canopy is similar to the Cameleon in that it is quite generous and provides nice sun protection but the trade off is that it is bigger and lower and may interfere with a tall toddler. We are anxiously awaiting our shipment on September 1st so as soon as we have one in the store to play with again, I will try to respond again. You could always take the canopy off and use a parasol- just a thought…..Thanks- Erika
August 7th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
how long can the baby use the baby nest? There is no official recommendation that I am aware of but depending on the size of your infant, I would say anywhere from birth to six months with three to four months probably being the average. Again, it really depends on the the size of your baby and how quickly they want to start rolling over! Thanks- Erika

I would like to know if you think the tires on the Bee will be suitable for snowy/cold environments. I will likely need it to get from my car to run small errands at the mall, etc. and back into the car. I am worried that they are just too small for my needs. Would I be better off with one of the other Bugaboos instead? Hi Talia- According to Bugaboo, the independent suspension in each of the four wheels should allow for excellent performance in all weather. We haven’t been able to give it a test run yet here in Cleveland since it is still August but knowing our weather it will be snowing here in September…..in theory, the suspension should allow it to push well in the snow but I haven’t tested it personally so I can’t totally answer that one! Erika
August 11th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
I read your previous answer that the snow wheels don’t attach to the Bee. Will Bugaboo be offering snow wheels for the Bee at a later date? Thank you, J According to Bugaboo, there are no immediate plans to introduce the snow wheels for the Bee. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything new. Thanks- Erika

i am due oct. 2 and was wondering if i needed the baby nest or if the baby would be fine w/ the footmuff. if i could get by w/ just the footmuff, that would be great since i’ll need it the following winter anyway. just not sure what’s best and would like your opinion. Hi April, I think the baby nest is nicer for a little baby if you can swing it. It has nice head and neck support and comes all the way up to the top of the baby’s head which is good because the seat on the Bee is not that plush. You could get by with the footmuff but I’d probably get some aftermarket head/neck support for the newborn to use along with it. Hope that helps- Erika
thanks,
april

hi can you tell me what under cariage storage will be - my baby will be home on oxygen so need plenty of room - thanks. Hi- there are some images of the underseat bag at www.bugaboo.com. Just go to “Bugaboo Bee” and then select “What you get” and you can see an image of the underseat bag. There is one but it is not very generous. Hope that helps- Erika

Wow! The bee seems to be exactly what my husband and I are looking for…lightweight, easy fold, maneuverability, trendy, height-adjustable handlebar. We’re ready to order it, but I first have two questions: will the car seat adapter be available September 1st? (I read somewhere that it might not be on the market until Spring 2008), and can you fold the bee from either seat position–front or rear facing–or will I need to reposition the seat to fold? Thanks for the help! Hi Dahlia- Unfortunately, according to Bugaboo, the infant seat adapter bars for Graco and Peg will not be available until April 2008. The adapter bar for the Maxi Cosi Mico should be available sometime this fall 2007. The Bee can also be folded facing you or facing out. Erika

Hi Erika,
You mention in one posting that the baby nest is recommended for a newborn but in another one that all the bee accessories will not be available at the launch of the stroller. Do you have any idea of when the baby nest will be available? Is it worth waiting for the bugaboo bee release in case of a baby due in September? Thanks for your help. Hi Caroline- We heard today from Bugaboo that a limited number of Baby Nests will be available in September but that is all of the information we have. We were told we would have more information in a few days so feel free to email us at info@strollermama.com to check in. The Bee is a great stroller and might be worth the wait depending on your situation. Again, feel free to send us an email with more information about your situation and we can help steer you in the right direction. Thanks, Caroline! Erika

Thanks so much for the help Erika! I have to admit though that I am a little confused. Certain e-retailers, such as tinyride.com, and retailers near my home are offering the car seat adapter as of September 1st. Yet you’re telling me that it won’t be available until April 2008. Would you know why I’m getting mixed answers? Am I missing something? I really want to purchase the bee for my November baby, but want to be clear about this issue. Thanks again! Hi Dahlia- All I can tell you is that perhaps those other retailers haven’t checked in with Bugaboo lately and they are relying on old information. Bugaboo hoped to launch the Bee along with all of the accessories at the same time. They ran into a major delay with the production of the infant seat adapter bars. I called our Bugaboo rep myself to confirm this last week and she, unfortunately, confirmed that there will be no infant seat adapter available for the Bee until at least 2008 with an estimated time of April 2008. We are a small boutique (just us two moms!) and have a close working relationship with Bugaboo so I trust what our Bugaboo rep tells us! I’d suggest you try to call Bugaboo yourself to confirm if you still have questions. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Dahlia! Erika

Hi Erika,
Are the three car seat brands you mentioned - Peg, Graco, and Maxi Cosi the only ones that are compatible with the Bee? No Britax? thanks! Hi Suzanne- Unfortunately, no Britax car seats are compatible with any of the Bugaboo strollers. Just Graco, Peg and Maxi Cosi. Thanks- Erika
September 5th, 2007 at 1:02 am
Hi Erika,
Does the Bee come with a bar to hang toys, etc? No, it does not. I have not seen it in the pictures. Also, I would like to know if it folds from either sit position? Yes, it can fold from either direction. I have heard that the sides of the stroller are annoying and don’t seem to serve any purpose although they were supposedly included for safety reasons. Is this correct? Have you heard any comment on this? The sides were added for safety reasons. I think it is good that they added them as they give some side protection for a small baby. They take a while to “sit in place” after being folded up in the box before assembling the stroller and I have heard that from some parents. Finally, how long does it take for you to ship the stroller? We are sold out of our first shipment and we are expecting a shipment in October. Once it is in stock and ships it takes one-four business days depending on where you are located. Hope that helps- Erika
Thanks
Caterina

Hi Erika,
Will the Bee fold with the baby nest is attached? I, like so many before me, have a baby due this fall and want so badly to get the bee! But I’m just not sure about it, since the car seat adapters are not going to be ready… Thanks. The Bee will not fold with the Baby Nest attached but is really easy to get in and out. We expect to have the adapter bars for the Maxi Cosi Mico infant seat in stock sometime soon. The Graco and Peg adapter bars are not expected until April 2008. Thanks- Erika
September 6th, 2007 at 6:57 pm
Dahlia - I also called Bugaboo & was informed that, unfortunately, the car seat adaptors were not going to be available until early 2008. Therefore, we will probably register for the nest and hope that by the time our little one outgrows the nest the adaptors are available. We expect the Maxi Cosi Mico adapters will be available in 2007 but the Graco and Peg adapters are not due until April 2008.
Erika - I noticed that someone had asked whether you could fold the bee with the seat rear facing or forward facing - have you been able to figure this out? Thanks! Yes, you can fold the Bee with the seat facing you or facing the world! Erika

Hi there
This looks like my perfect stroller. One question - I’m looking at photos of the baby nest and am not seeing whether it has handles to lift it out of the seat directly (and to use it as a bassinet around the house). Can it be used in this way? Hi Hannah- No, the baby nest does not have handles. It is actually more like a shorter footmuff with an area with head/neck support for the baby. It is not a stand alone bassinet. Hope that helps- Erika

will a normal bugaboo board fit the bee? if not will any buggyboard fit? i would love to order the bee but i will need a buggy board, i currently have the frog with the bugaboo board and its great but it would be nice to have a buggy that folds easily Hi Melanie, unfortunately, the Frog/Cameleon wheeled board is not compatible and there is no wheeled board that is compatible with the Bee. We recently confirmed with Bugaboo that there are no plans to introduce a Bee-compatible wheeled board. Sorry! Erika

Hello Erika
This site is fabulous, I wish they were as useful as you in the UK! I wondered if you know if the Cameleon Footmuff is compatible with the Bee? Thanks, Claire! We’ve worked hard on the site so we appreciate your kind words! The Bee has it’s own footmuff that is specifically designed to work with the stroller. Hope that helps- Erika
Thanks

Hi, i would like to know if the car seat adaptor are available now, when you enter to any site and you look for bugaboo bee accessory they show you the adaptors for perego and graco, also i would like to ask you if the baby nest are attached to the stroller by buttons or zippers or you simply put the baby inside without any belt or protection for slips. Hi Mirna- None of the car seat adapter bars are available yet for the Bee. The Maxi Cosi Mico adapters are expected Jan-March 2008 and the Peg and Graco adapters are due April 2008. The Baby Nest attaches to the seat of the Bee by attaching around the five point harness straps (if I recall it may be velcro?). It is very secure while attached but also easy to remove for folding the stroller. You use the five point harness the same way you do on the seat without the Nest. The Baby Nest is expected Dec 2007. Hope that helps- Erika

Thank you for all the wonderful information! Would you be willing to give your recommendation on a Bugaboo Bee vs. Quinny Buzz? I have a Maxi Cosi carseat and am not due until Jan. but want to find the best stroller. Since I am not able to test drive the Buzz locally I would love some advice. Thanks! Hi Mindy- We’d be happy to help find the stroller that is the best fit for you. The Bee and the Buzz are actually quite different- the Buzz is actually more similar to the Frog or Cameleon than the Bee. Why don’t you send us an email at info@strollermama.com or give us a call at (866) 293-5642 so we can get more information from you (where you live, where you want to use your stroller, what features are most important to you, etc.) and we can help you make the best choice. Thanks, Erika

Great website! Lots of good info especially on the new Bugaboo Bee. Quick question on the Bee - does it come with a lightweight nylon travel case/cover for carry-on air travel? Am not referring to the fancy, wheeled, heavy ones that come separate as an accessory. If it does not come with it, do you sell a simple lightweight alternative? Many thanks, Michelle
Hi Michelle- The Bee does not come with a lightweight travel bag. In fact, we have not found another travel bag that fits the Bee other than the “fancy” Bugaboo travel bag (which is pretty big). But, I do recommend the bag- I’ve used it myself (on my Cameleon) and gate checked the stroller and I was happy to have it- my stroller came off the plane safe and sound! Hope that helps- Erika

Hi Erika
you guys are truely the most informative website regarding the Bugaboo Bee!!! Thanks for all your help so far.
One more question for you - I already have the bugaboo frog from my 1st child and want to upgrade to the Bee for my baby due mid Jan 08. Due to budget constrictions I was wandering if I can get away with not buying the new Bee footmuff but just using my old Frog footmuff. Are they very different from each other? Thanking you in advance, Jo
Hi Jo- Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I wanted to pull both footmuffs to compare them myself before I posted a reply. The Frog footmuff is bigger than the Bee footmuff. It is about 7-8 inches taller at the top and it is more square at the top whereas the Bee footmuff is more round at the top. So, the Frog footmuff is also wider at the top by about 2 inches on each side. The Frog footmuff is also thicker and has the fleecy natural colored lining whereas the Bee footmuff is colored fleece on the inside that is the same color as the exterior. The are about the same width. The problem is that the harness straps are in different places and I think that is the real deal breaker. They don’t seem to line up well so I would not recommend it. Sorry! Hope that helps- Erika

Hi. Any update on whether the bee wheels will work on snow? The bee looks like the perfect urban stroller for spring, summer and fall but I’m a little concerned about the stability in snow. Thanks! Hi Jen- That’s a good question, actually. We haven’t had a chance to test drive it in the snow or get other feedback from other parents yet since it was just released in September and we’re just starting to get snow (at least here in Cleveland). My guess it that it will do better than a basic umbrella stroller (like a Maclaren) because each of the four wheels has independent suspension which is a unique feature of the Bee. So, in theory, it should handle snow well. But, I don’t think anyone knows for sure yet. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi, I’ve just ordered the Bee for my little one who will be 3.5 months by the time it arrives. I’ve also ordered the footmuff - will this be sufficient/comfortable for a 3.5 month old? I didnt want to order the babynest as I suspected that he’d probably outgrow it in under a month - my logic was that the footmuff would be the more economical purchase (the one we’d get more use out of) - what do you think?? do you think I’ll still need some sort of head support to supplement? Many thanks for your advice! Hi Connie- I think you made a smart choice. The footmuff should be fine your your 3.5 month old. Whether or not you need extra head support will depend on your baby and what their neck control is at that point and it can vary from baby to baby. You can always get an additional head support and just stick it in the seat and that would solve your problem but I think you will be fine! Hope that helps- Erika

Hi. I have a few questions. What to use on “chair area” in the winter? Footmuff doesn´t overlap or how to describe it what I mean??? Is suitable also for bee? It doesn´t seem to be the same shape in foot area like chameleon atc . http://www.realbabyinc.com/product_detail.cfm?PID=9274 please see the last picture, question is where are the “sides” for example on the second/third picture? Sorry, maybe stupid question. On the second picture I see just, how to say co called “chair”. Maybe this is stroller only for shopping, and going out in spring, summer. I don´t know. I understand newborn is in nest in this stroller, but then? What makes this stroller more comfortable, more closed for colder days? Hi Zu- I’m not totally sure I understand your question. The Bee Footmuff is very similar to the Cameleon footmuff it is just made to fit the Bee specifically. Perhaps the pictures do not show this, but it is a Bugaboo footmuff and is the accessory you will want to use with the Bee to keep your baby warm in the winter. Other than that, maybe email us at info@strollermama.com with more questions or call us at (866) 293-5642 and we can try to help clear up what you are trying to understand. Hope that helps- Erika

I wanted to order the bee with the baby nest but am not keen to go ahead unless the maxi cosi car seat adaptors are likely to be available. My baby is due mid-February 08 and I would love to have everything by then rather than be waiting till later to be able to use the car seat. How likely is it for you to have the maxi cosi car seat adaptor in stock by then? Hi there- The latest release date according to Bugaboo is March 2008 so that probably won’t with your timeframe. Please feel free to check back with us as you get closer to your due date. Sometimes our Bugaboo stuff arrives earlier than expected so you may be in luck. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi there,
I’ve just ordered a bee but am now slightly worried after reading some reviews online that say that the bee will not fit the child for very long. I am trading in my cameleon which I was happy would fit my daughter until she was at least 3 (she is 10 months now), and now wonder if I am doing the right thing…what are your thoughts? I think the concern is with the narrowness and shallowness of the seat and the height of the chair… Which stroller would last a child longer do you think?
Hi Lindsay- I think the Bee and Cameleon are both good choices for a child up to age three. The strollers are quite different so it really depends what features are most important to you. I think the Cameleon has a bigger, more confortable seat for the child but it has the drawback of having to take the seat off to fold. The depth on the seat of the Bee is actually adjustable so that really shouldn’t be a big concern. I think either would be a good choice- you just need to figure out which stroller features you need most and then make your decision. Hope that helps- Erika

THIS SITE IS VERY IMFORMATIVE! I HAVE THE BEE AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I HAVE NOTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT IT. MY SON IS A STURDY 5 MONTH OLD AT 18.5 AND OFF THE CHARTS IN HEIGHT. THE BEE HAS BEEN A BLESSING. THE SEAT ADJUSTS TO HIS HEIGHT. THE STROLLER HANDLEBAR RAISES TALL ENOUGH FOR ME(WHICH WAS A HUGE ISSUE, REGARDING OTHER STROLLERS). ITS JUST LUXURY. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INFO. I WAS VERY CONFLICTED WITH WHICH BRAND OF STROLLER TO PURCHASE. THANKS AGAIN.
Hi Angela- Thanks so much for your post! Feedback like yours from moms who actually use the strollers is one of the most helpful tools for other moms trying to make a decision. I’m glad you love your Bee! Thanks- Erika

Hi there,
I am very interested in buying the new bugaboo bee with baby nest. my baby is due on april 2008. is the bee supportive enough to use as a pram system on a regular basis or only as a buggy. Hi Laura- I think the Bee with the Baby Nest gives a newborn a nice supportive place to be. The Baby Nest is different than a traditional bassinet (like on the Cameleon or Frog) in that is more of a soft cocoon for the baby versus a more structured and larger bassinet. We have lots of parents that use it- I think it really depends what type of bassinet you are looking for to use with your new baby. Hope that helps- Erika

Hello, this site is really informative. I wonder if you could help me out with a question I have on the Bugaboo Bee. I am currently pregnant with my 3rd and need to buy a new buggy. I want something that is really lightweight, easy to fold up and throw in to the back of the car, as I will be using it mainly for the school run and don’t have time to fiddle about with tricky buggies. I am torn between getting the Bugaboo Bee or the Mclaren XT which I believe are both suitable for newborns. As far as I can see, the only benefits of getting the Bee are that the seat can be rear facing and it has the one handle bar, rather than having to use both hands to steer. Would appreciate your opinion. Many thanks, Justine
Hi Justine- As of mom of three myself, I completely understand your concerns! Both the Bee and Techno XT would be appropriate for a newborn. You are right that the Bee has the advantage of having a reversible seat (and you can still fold it with the seat reversed which is nice) as well as the single handle bar. The Bee also has independent suspension on all four wheels which will make for a smoother ride than the Techno. The Techno, on the other hand, has a more compact fold. They both have pros and cons so you need to decide which features are most important to you. Personally, if I had to pick one between the two to be my main stroller, I’d probably go with the Bee. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi. I was wondering if you had any updates on when the adapter for the Mico car seat would be available for the Bee?
Thanks & Happy New Year,

Hello there. Just to say I’ve found this blog really informative and helpful - thanks! I wondered if you could help me with something? I already have the Bugaboo Gecko for my 15 month old son and it’s been brilliant - I love it. But I’m looking for a lightweight stroller for travelling on buses/trains. I have a Quinny Zapp which I’m not too impressed with - my son seems to slouch when he’s sitting in it and I don’t like the 3-action fold. If I was to go for the Bee, I would need to sell my Gecko in order to finance it - would you recommend this? I mostly use the Gecko for travelling around the city and find the pneumatic tyres very hardy and suitable for this - do you think the Bee would be up to the job? Thanks in advance! Hi Leona- Thanks for your kind works about our blog! I agree that the Quinny Zapp sounds like it is not a great fit for what you are looking for. While it is lightweight and folds very compactly, the process to fold it wouldn’t be great for hopping on and off of public transportation. I think that the Bee sounds like it would work for you. What I would suggest, however, is trying to find a local retailer to test drive it before you sell your Gecko. The Bee and the Gecko are very different strollers so I would see if you can have your son sit in it to make sure he is comfortable in it. I think the ease of the fold and the independent suspension on each of the four wheels makes it great for urban use but since your son didn’t like the seat of the Zapp, I’d be sure to try it before you sell your Gecko. Hope that helps- Erika

Has anyone tried modifying or removing the side flaps? This stroller barely fits our 3 month old, and when he’s bundled up, it’s a tight squeeze. Hi Patrick- I haven’t personally heard of anyone doing this. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help! Erika

You guys have a nice thread going on here…very informative. We actually just received our Bee and after fiddling with it for about half an hour, I can really appreciate its construction and design. Our baby is not here yet (still have about two more weeks to go) so we haven’t actually conducted a real world test yet, but I’m really looking forward to trying it out for real. That being said, we also got the baby nest and one question I had was: can the stroller be folded with the nest attached? As of this moment, I’m thinking “no” but I’m hoping an “expert” can confirm or deny. Also looking forward to the car seat adapters. Naturally with our due date, availability sooner would’ve been better :/ Thanks for reading my 2-cents! Hi Tom- Thanks for your feedback! We have tried to fold the Bee with the Baby Nest on it and- you are correct- it does NOT fold with the Baby Nest on. (But it is a snap to get off.) Hopefully the adapter bars will be here before you know it! Thanks- Erika

This blog site is amazing, informative, and easy to use. I’m an expectant father who reads tons of blogs for knowledge on computers and electronics, but was so impressed by this blog that I had to read the entire thing (never read any other baby blog). If the ppl on my regular blogs were as helpful and polite as the ones here, my job would be much easier. Kudos to Erika for all her replies.
Now, onto my questions. Do you know if the soon-to-be released Graco car seat adapter for the Bee will fit pretty much any Graco infant car seat? I have a hand-me-down Graco infant car seat from 4 years ago (sorry, no model no. offhand) and was wondering if it would fit the adapter. Also, how sturdy and secure are the car seats on top of the Bee? This 2nd Q might be harder to answer since the adapters aren’t out yet, but just wanted your opinion. Thanks!
Hi Ben- Thanks for your kind words about our blog! It makes me feel so good that expectant parents out there are benefitting from it! I spoke with our Bugaboo rep today and she confirmed that the Bee adapters should be available early second quarter- probably late April/early May. She also said that they expect the Graco adapter bars to be the first available (originally the Maxi Cosi were supposed to come first).
The Bugaboo Graco adapter bars work with either the Graco Snugride (which is probably what you have if it is four years old) or the Graco Safeseat. You could always contact Graco with your model number to confirm but those are the only types of infant seats Graco makes so you will be fine. I haven’t used the adapters on the Bee yet since it they aren’t out but I would imagine, based on the how the adapters work on the Cameleon and Frog, that they will be absolutely secure. The reason there has been a delay in getting the adapters out is because there is very stringent safety testing and the adapters will not be released until they are safe (which is a good thing!) Again, I haven’t tried them personally, but I used the adapter for my Cameleon with my Graco Snugride with my baby almost everyday and it was terrific! If you have more questions, please let me know! Thanks, Ben! Take care- Erika

I am considering purchasing the Bee as a replacement to my Frog - as noted by another parent, mainly for the school run with my older children - something in one piece is very preferrable. My concern, however, is whether or not the Bee will fold with the infant seat adaptors attached or, if, like the Frog, you have to remove the adaptors before folding the stroller. Thank you. Hi Alexis- Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I had to get the answer from Bugaboo and I just heard back from them today. According to Bugaboo, you WILL be able to fold the Bee with the adapter bars on (unlike the Cameleon and Frog). Hope that helps- Erika

Hi, I’m expecting my baby for May and I really like the Bugaboo Bee. I just have one doubt, will the baby nest be too hot for summer? Thanks! Hi Lola- Congrats on expecting! I think if you used the Baby Nest all zipped up it could be a little toasty on hot summer days but the nice thing is that the top flap completely zips off so I think it would be fine. If you are going to use the Bee with a newborn (not in a carseat), I think the Baby Nest is a must to make it more comfortable for an infant. Hope that helps- Erika

Hey all -
This is a very informative site & I just wanted to say thanks to Erika for starting it and answering all of my questions promptly. Our baby is here and she absolutely loves the bee. I just wanted to pass on our first hand experience with the bee to all of you expecting parents -
So far, we are very pleased. It is really compact, so shopping with the baby or running errands is a breeze - you can fit in and out of clothes racks very easily! It is also great for the trunk of a midsize to smaller car. The ride is very smooth for our little one. We did get the nest and I think, like Erika said, it is a must for newborns. It keeps them nice and snug in the stroller. The only issue we have had is folding the stroller with the seat facing us - you can do it, but it took us a few outings to finally get the hang of it. Overall, we are very pleased with the stroller and highly recommend it!
Hi Nicole- Congrats on the birth of your daughter! I’m thrilled to hear she loves the Bee! And thank you for posting your review about it. Feedback like yours is invaluable for our parents! Happy strolling! Erika

I bought the Quinny Buzz and are about to travel a lot and need to check in the carrycot at least (my son is only 6 weeks old so car seats etc are not great). As the Buzz does not come with any covers (unlike the Bugaboo that I had with my first daughter but I thought the Buzz is better to handle…hmmm) for check-in, can someone suggest a solution for us? Thank you in advance Hi Heike- I have been able to fit the Quinny Buzz with the regular seat in the Bugaboo travel bag to check it. The bassinet will not fit. I would suggest just checking the bassinet in the box that it came it as a piece of luggage. You can use the Bugaboo bag to check the stroller/seat as luggage or you could gate check it. It is a tight fit in the Bugaboo bag, but it fits! Hope that helps- Erika

This is the first site I’ve found with real parents talking about the Bee. We purchased the Bee, but have been frustrated at trying to get our 4 1/2 month old daughter comfortably situated… especially coming from the cozy Peg Perego car seat! Wondering if I’ve got the straps adjusted wrong- she seems like she’s squished in there (in between the two sidecushions). She’s 13 pounds and 25 inches. Any advice on how to know if I’m putting her in right?? Thanks!
Hi Allison- Thanks for your post. Just to let you know, any switch from the infant carrier to the regular seat on the stroller is going to seem like a big switch! We have heard some grumbles from parents about the side flaps on the Bee. They were actually added as a safety feature when the Bee went through safety testing before its release by Bugaboo. We’ve heard that eventually they “settle down” and move to the side so they won’t crowd the baby. I actually just read something on another stroller forum that one parent cut off and removed the flaps (which we can’t recommend) but she was happy with her decision to do that. Hopefully, the more you use the stroller, the more they will settle to the sides.
Have you thought about getting the Bee footmuff to make the seat a bit more cozy? Your daughter will be too big for the Baby Nest but the footmuff might add some nice added comfort. I have one on my Cameleon and I love it! Hope that helps- Erika

This is the best place to find ‘bee’ information!
The baby nest can only be used for about 4 months.
Is it thinkable to use the foot muff with a “Bobby head nest support” for newborns (for summer/autumn) instead of the baby nest?
I cannot really swing it but I’ll do if it’s necessary or wise. Thanks + greetings from Switzerland.
Hi Greg- Thanks for your kind words! I think you could probably use some other sort of head support with the footmuff. All things being equal, the Nest is best but I understand that it is expensive for such short term use. Hope that helps- Erika

This is a great blog! Thanks so much for offering such good advice, I am very grateful to be able to read about the Bee as it is just being launched in the UK now and first baby is due in May.
I had a look at the Bee and see it is not totally lie-flat. First question: Do you have any advice or opinions on whether this matters? I am happy to buy the babynest to make it more cosy for my newborn, but will baby be happy if it’s not competely lie flat?
Second question: how does the baby nest work with safety straps? Do you work the safety straps through the baby nest and clip them onto baby lying down? Is this comfortable for baby? There are still no baby nests available in the UK so I haven’t seen a picture of one.
It’s quite difficult to choose a pushchair without baby actually being here! Thanks a lot for any help and advice you can give.
Hi Sarah- I’m so glad that you have found the blog to be helpful! The recline on the Bee is nearly flat and is certainly appropriate for a newborn. The Baby Nest definitely makes it more comfortable for a new baby since the seat is a little bare, in my opinion. But the recline is definitely appropriate from birth.
You cannot fold the Bee with the Baby Nest on but it is easily removable. The back part of the nest easily opens up and you just pull the harness right through- quite simple and quick! Hope that helps- Erika

Hi Erika! I just wanted to update on our experience since we received our bee + footmuff, esp. in response to Allison’s reply above re. her 4.5mth old’s comfort in the bee… we used the bee without the footmuff for 2 weeks from when our little one was 3.5mths. the footmuff arrived when he was 4mths. Prior to the footmuff arriving he really seemed uncomfortable in the stroller - squirming and constant complaining. But once we attached the footmuff he loved it! He will now sleep happily in it - although saying that he *will* complain if he becomes interested in the world passing by, in which case he will whinge until he’s lifted out (but methinks this is more to do with his personality than the bee!!). so, i STRONGLY recommend getting the footmuff if you can stretch it - it can make folding the bee a little troublesome, but i’ve found the best way to workaround this is to *not* button the the lowest 2 buttons on the footmuff to the chassis/frame. Then when folding the bee, lift up the whole of the bottom half of the footmuff and tuck the bottom edge into the canopy, then lift up the seat and proceed with collapsing the seat as usual. I find that if i don’t fold it in this fashion, the ‘wings’ on the buggy get in the way when unfolding - and it’s a bloody pain!! (even MORE so when doing it one handed OMG!). Thanks for all the helpful answers Erika - and keep up the good work!!

Erika -
I noticed in the update re: Bugaboo you said the Bee is going to be available in pink in April - do you know if they are also going to have the footmuff available in pink as well? Are you guys accepting pre-orders for that?
February 26th, 2008 at 11:48 am
This is a great blog - easily the most information about the Bee on the net and more helpful than the Bugaboo site!
I have a question about the footmuff - the only photo I have seen of the Bee with the footmuff shows no canopy and then I noticed that the footmuff extends over the back of the seat to clip on? Does this use the same clips that the canopy uses to attach and, if so, does that mean that they can’t be used at the same time? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Fiona- Thanks for your nice feedback about our blog! The footmuff does use the same clips as the canopy and yes, they can be used together. Basically you remove the canopy from the seat. There are two prongs that attach the front of the canopy to the frame (this is the part that allows the canopy to be pulled forward for maximum sun coverage and is where the two mental posts are inserted in order to anchor the canopy to the frame). You unhook the black rubber bands from the prongs on the sides of the anchor points and then pull out the metal posts of the canopy. Towards the back of the seat, near the tush part, there is a bigger “button” or clip that also has a black rubber band that needs to be unhooked. You then remove the canopy fabric from the back of the seat, across the top and down the side and remove the canopy from the lower part of the seat just as you did to start off the process of taking the canopy off. You will anchor the footmuff to the lower button near the tush part and to the buttons on the back of the seat. FYI–You will want to make sure that the sides of the seat are out of the way before you anchor the lower part down. (This might not be a big deal if the straps are already laced through the muff however I didn’t get that indepth in the process of making sure the two could be used together). You then reattach the canopy using the anchor points you unattached it from and viola!! Hope that helps- Erika

hi erika
first of all, thanks so much for all the information regarding the bee.
I have a question, i currently have a 4 month old (very heavy though, 17 lbs already) and own the cameleon. I really want a more umbrella type stroller for traveling. I travel alot and the first time I took my cameleon on the plane they completely trashed it (it looks like its two years old). The next time i checked the cameleon in its bugaboo transport bag (because this bag to me is INSANELY big and not a carry on) and took my son on the Bjorn, but he is getting so heavy that i can’t imagine doing the same for our trip in 2 months; which is why I am thinking about investing in the Bee. What do you recomend, the bee seems like a stroller you can check at the gate (folds easier and more lightweight, and hopefully it wont break so easily) or is it not necesary to buy this one seeing as i already have the cameleon. My other concern is that the rate my son is growing he might outgrow the cameleon soon so it might be helpful to have the bee already. I really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks so much.
Hi Elsa- So, here are my thoughts for you. I also have the Cameleon and I have flown with mine. What I would suggest (which is what I did), is for you to use your Bugaboo Transport Bag and GATE check your Cameleon. Just trifold it and sling it over your shoulder and carry it through the airport. That way your baby can stay comfy in his Cameleon until you are ready to board the plane. Now, you will be doing the “break down the Bugaboo in the huge bag show” at the gate in front of a bunch of people, but if you can deal with that, I think it is worth it.
I guess whether or not you should get the Bee depends on your baby. My daughter (15 months) loves her Cameleon and is very comfortable in it so I like to bring it when I can. It keeps her happy (which keeps me happy!) I don’t think growing out of the Cameleon should be a concern now, even though your son is on the larger side. You have lots of use left!
My other thought is that I don’t think I would spend the money on a Bee and gate check it unprotected. And, the travel bag for the Bee is the same bag for the Cameleon so at that point, why not just take the Cameleon? If money is not an issue and you want a ligherweight, “easier” stroller to supplement the Cameleon, you could always get the Bee, but you could also do something like a Maclaren Quest (which I also keep in my car with my Cameleon) for something lighter and easier. We love Maclarens for quick trips and travels. Hope that helps! Erika

Thanks for all the useful info, this blog really helped me make a decision. So after we got the Bee and played with it, I want to give some ideas for those still undecided. I am delighted with it - easy to maneuver, lightweight, compact, easy to adjust & fold, good storage. Given we’re in NYC, that’s exactly what we need.
Car Seat - we don’t have the adapters yet, but the car seat really fits in the stroller seat and seems quite stable. I think that will be OK for our newborn (baby’s coming next week) until the adapters are out.
The nest - not worth the money IMHO. Had I actually seen it in the store before we ordered, I wouldn’t have bought it. I didn’t mind paying extra for it, assuming that the back support was much firmer, closer to a real bassinet. However, it’s quite soft. The only good thing is the head support, but you can buy such for $15-20 or even use the removable cushion from the car seat (the Graco we got came with one). To me it makes more sense to use cheaper head support together with the footmuff (you’ll anyways need that next winter). Also, the nest seems quite warm, which will be fine for winter babies, but I can’t quite imagine using it in the summer. I am only keeping the nest b/c I am so close to due date and also still working, really don’t have time to deal with shipping back.
I think this was great choice, my only suggestion is to check out the nest in a store before you buy and see how you feel about it. Hope I helped a bit. Good luck to everyone!
Hi Vili- Thanks for your wonderful review! It will be so helpful to parents. I hope you enjoy your Bee and best luck (very soon!) with the birth of your new baby! Take care- Erika

Does the Bugaboo bee has car seat adapter? for Graco and Perego… Hi Daniela- Not yet. They are supposed to arrive later this spring but we have heard rumors that they may only release adapters for the Bee for the Graco infant seat. The Graco adapter is one piece and the Peg and Mico adapters are two pieces and they are trying how to make them secure on the Bee. That is the latest we have heard. Hope that helps- Erika

does any one know when the bee board will be available at the minute i am using the litaf seat 2 go board which fits perfectly fine but would like to see the actual bee board Hi Keeley- As of now, Bugaboo tells us they hope to have a Universal Wheeled Board that works with all three Bugaboos but they “do not have timing worked out yet”. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi Erika
We are torn between the Bee and Cameleon. We live in a city and have a small car, however want the potential to go “off road”. I don’t mean up mountains and really rough terrain but dirt paths and maybe muddy, rough paths. I am drawn to the bee because it is lightweight and compact and looks easy to manage on my own, while my husbnd prefers the cameleon.
Is the Bee suitablte for the terrain i have described or do we really need the cameleon?
Thanks very much
Sally
Hi Sally- I think the Bee does an excellent job of handling bumpy city terrain because it has the four independent wheel suspension but it will not handle outdoor/muddy/rough terrain as well as the Cameleon. The Cameleon has a different suspension system and the big tires in the back really help make the ride smoother for the baby when using it “off-road”. I think the Bee would do okay- better than alot of other strollers- because of the four wheel independent suspension but it will not perform, in my opinion, as well as the Cameleon. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks- Erika

Hi Erika,
I have a question about the parasol, is that to protect mom from the sun while she is pushing the stroller, or is it just added sun protection for baby?
Hi Kim- The parasol is designed for added sun protection for the baby (although wouldn’t it be nice if someone invented one to protect mom from the sun, too?) Some parents also choose to remove the canopy once their toddler is taller and then the parasol can provide sun protection. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi Erika,
Thank you so much for the wonderful and informative website. I have learned so much by reading this blog.
I am scheduled to give birth in the summer and want to try and buy only one buggy that I can use all around. I work, travel a lot, and also plan to take long haul flights (and stay inthose places for long periods) a couple of times a year. I also live outside the city, close to a forest, and have a dog.
At the moment, I’m looking into a Bugaboo Chameleon, Bugaboo Bee or the Maclaren XLR or Techno XT.
I’m partial to the Chameleon as it looks like the most stable pram, plus is great for walking in the forest. However, it seems from reviews that it is so difficult to collapse and needs to be done with two hands. Thus travelling sounds like a nightmare (i’m very small and weakling at best) and no i don’t see myself making a scene in collapsing a difficult buggy in front of a crowd.
Meanwhile, the bee seems like a great option considering its’ lightweight, can be used for newborns and collapsible with one hand. However, based on comments, it doesn’t handle as well as the Chameleon on off roads. I also keep hearing about those annoying sides that despite being made as a safety precautions, makes me wonder if my baby will become annoyed as well.
The Maclaren Techno it seems, is used by many purely because it is the easiest stroller to use for travelling but it seems so flimsly compared to the Bee and Chameleon, and I want to try and buy one buggy and not two.
I guess my question is, if you were in my shoes, what buggy would you recommend? Also, You mentioned that if you travel with the bee on planes, you are better off bringing the bag with you and checking it in the gate. Will there be a huge show to made to put in the bag similar to the Chameleon or will it be easeir?
I’m partial to the bee as it seems to be the easiest in still undecided as to whether I should buy a bugaboo chameleon
Hi Lia- You’ve done quite a bit of research- that is terrific! After reading your post, I think the Bee is definitely your best option. I have a Cameleon and while I love it, I do not love flying with it. I have done it but it is a big pain to break it down and pack it in the travel bag. While I would still recommend using the same travel bag with the Bee, the fold on the Bee is much easier and you don’t even need to take the seat off so it would be very easy to pack it up at the gate.
The four wheel independent suspension on the Bee would handle your dog walks in the forest just fine. I think the Cameleon might be a tad smoother but it is only one thing to factor in for your overall decision.
While I am a huge fan of Maclarens, I don’t think it will perform well on your outdoor walks at all. Great for travel but not my first choice if just getting one stroller.
I think the side flaps on the Bee are a little annoying and the canopy is a little low but overall it is a great little, reversible seat, comfortable from birth stroller. I think the quality is excellent. I think the Cameleon is a bit more comfortable for a toddler but again, it is a pain to take apart when compared with the Bee.
If you have more questions as you continue your research, just let me know! Thanks, Lia! Erika

Please help! I really love the Bee but defintely need a buggy board. Can you tell me if Bugaboo are planning a board compatible with the Bee? I can’t work out from the info here if there is one due out 2008 or if they aren’t planning one at all. Thanks.
Hi Jo- Thanks for your post. According to Bugaboo, there are plans to make a universal wheeled board that will connect to the Cameleon/Frog/Bee but it probably won’t be available until early 2009. We have heard from another mom that she used a Lascal Buggy Board on her Bee but we have not tried that personally. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi Erika,
I know that the bee car seats adaptors should be coming out soon. I want to buy the peg perego Primo Viaggio 30/30 car seat and was wondering if this car seat will be compatible with the car seat adaptors for the bee.
thanks!
Hi Melissa- NO, they will not. Bugaboo has scrapped its plans to sell Bee adapter bars for the Peg and Maxi Cosi infant seats due to stability issues. The only infant seat adapter that will be available for the Bee will be for the Graco infant seat (and they should be available any day now). Hope that helps- Erika

Hi,
I love all the great information on this blog and am on the verge of ordering a Bee, but I have a question about the rain cover. How does it attach, and can it be used with the canopy, or does the canopy have to be removed? The only photos I’ve found of the rain cover and optional sun shade are without the canopy, and they are described as attaching to the chassis.
Thanks for the help and keep up this great service!
Hi Laura- Thanks for your posts! I actually don’t know the answer to your question but when we are back in the store on Saturday, I will play around with the Bee and the raincover and get back to you with an answer. I just wanted to post on the blog that I got your posts and I’m working on an answer for you! Thanks for your patience! Erika

I’m just wondering if I can take the bee in the plane. Is the transport bag a necessity? Thanks.
Hi Ellene- I always use a travel bag when I fly with my strollers- especially my Bugaboo! I’ve heard horror stories about what happens to strollers on planes. Since the Bee is a pretty expensive stroller, I’d want to protect it- not only from structural damage but all sorts of shmutzy stuff in the belly of the plane! Yuck! Erika

Thanks for all the great info and answering all the questions….
Do you know that if the Graco car seat adapter has to be removed to fold the Bee or can it stay on at all times? Thanks!
Hi Pat- According to Bugaboo, if you are just using the adapter bar on the frame, you can leave it on to fold. If you are using the adapter bar on the stroller with the seat on, you need to remove it to fold. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi Erika,
I just bought the Bugaboo Bee to go with my Maxi-Cosi Mico car seat based on the statement from your website that an adapter would be made. Now I see that no adapter will be available after all. Their website mentions nothing of this and my e-mails to Bugaboo have gone unanswered. Is their anyway to get a definite yes or no statement from Bugaboo.
I only bought the Bugaboo Bee because an adapter would be coming soon for my car seat. Thanks.
Hi Mike- Thanks for your post. Here is the deal- we were told by Bugaboo in the summer of 2007 when they debuted the Bee that there would be infant seat adapter bars available for the Graco, Peg and Maxi Cosi infant seats. We very recently were told by Bugaboo that the only infant seat adapters they were releasing for the Bee were the adapter bars for the Graco infant seats. The reason, according to Bugaboo, is that since the Peg and Maxi Cosi adapter bars are two pieces (versus the one, larger connected piece of the Graco adapter), they were having problems with the stability of the stroller with those adapters and that they did not pass safety testing. They were working to try to make the stroller secure with the Peg and Maxi Cosi adapters, but it was too unstable.
I would definitely continue to try to get in contact with Bugaboo. They should be answering your phone calls. We were also very surprised when we heard the Peg and Maxi Cosi adapters would not work. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thanks- Erika

Erika,
Thank you for your quick response. I’ll keep trying to get an answer from Bugaboo. Hopefully they will solve this issue. I really like the Bee, but without this feature I feel the cost would not justify it’s functionality.
Thanks,
Mike

Erika - Thanks for your answer. Next question - do you know when the Perego adaptor will be available? I noticed that the Graco adaptor came out, but Bugaboo told me March and I can’t find the Perego adaptor anywhere. Thanks.
April 25th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
I contacted Bugaboo and was informed that there will not be an adaptor for the Perego Primo Viaggio infant seat after they told me, in February, that one would be available in March. Of course, this is after I already purchased the Bee. Suffice it to say, I am very unhappy!

Just a note for Mike and anyone else having trouble getting in touch with Bugaboo — I bought the Bee before the car seat adapters were out but wanted to confirm that they’d be out in time for my due date. I didn’t get a response to any of the three e-mails I sent, but I was able to get in touch with someone who was able to answer all of my questions when I called the 1-800 number during their business hours. Hi Kerri- Thanks for sharing. That information will be helpful to our parents! Erika

Hello…thanks for the amazing blog! So very helpful! I noticed someone asked how the rain shield for the bee attached. Did you happen to get an answer? I really don’t want to take off the canopy, but as the last poster mentioned, bugaboo only shows pictures of the rain shield without the canopy. I will be purchasing the bee very soon, and I also need the sunshade. Can the sunshade be used with the canopy still attached? Just like the rain shield, I can’t find any picture with the sunshade and the canopy together. I know I might be picky, but if I can’t use the rain shield or the sunshade with the canopy, it might make me think twice about the bee and just go with the frog instead. Thanks in advance!
Hi Sara- Thanks for your kind words about our blog! I contacted Bugaboo about the Bee and they told me that you can use both the raincover and the sunshade with the Bee canopy attached. Hope that helps- Erika

Can I take the Bee on the plane as a carry on? or do I have to check it. Hi Justine- You can definitely gate check the Bee (and pretty much any other stroller, fyi!) They won’t let you actually carry it into the cabin but you can check it at the bottom of the walk-down thing. I’d recommend getting the Bugaboo Transit bag to protect it. I’ve gated checked my Bugaboo Cameleon with the Bugaboo bag and it was great! Hope that helps- Erika

did anyone find a maxi-cosi infant car seat adapter yet for the Bugaboo Bee?
Our understanding here at StrollerMama.com is that Bugaboo has indefinately put off the release of the Maxi Cosi Bee adapter because they couldn’t get it to work on the Bee frame in a way that they felt comfortable with. The Bee Graco adapter is now in stock and it might be that this is the only car seat adapter that will be available for the Bee.

I have seen where sites are selling the maxi cosi bee adapter. I’m confused if this has been approved for safety. Even Neiman Marcus has it on their website. Any updated word?
Hi Jodi- There is not a Maxi Cosi adapter available for the Bugaboo Bee. It did not pass safety testing and Bugaboo has indefinitely delayed any release. That is the latest that we have heard. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi!
Yet another compliment on your excellent blog!
I need to know if the Bee will be ok for an infant when walking on cobble stones (we’ve got lots of those where I live) - will the individual suspensions really be enough or will the baby be close to a concussion after some time?
Thanks!
Hi Anna- Thanks for the compliment on our blog! Although I still think a stroller with air tires/large foam tires would be the best choice for cobble stones, we have heard from parents that they have been quite happy with their Bee on bumpy roads. I think the suspension system should do a fine job of handling the bumps. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi, I have a 8 months old baby and want to buy a bugaboo stroller but I couldn’t decide between the frog, camelion or the bee. Which one would you recomment? Also I understand the 2008 camelion model just came out.Is it worth to spend more money to buy the 2008 model instead of 2007. Thanks
Hi Annie- Unless you live in the city and need to take public transportation alot, I would choose the Cameleon or Frog over the Bee. I personally use the Cameleon and I adore it. I love the adjustable handlebar (not available on the Frog) and the endless color combinations. The 2008 Cameleon has EVA foam tires, a new handlebar adjustment knob and great new colors. Let us know if you have more questions! Erika

Hello,
I’m hesitating between the bugaboo bee and the maclaren Techno XLR. Could you please tell me which one you would buy and why? Is the Bugaboo Bee worth the extra $200 (the extra $245 with the Graco car seat adapter)? Thank you very much!!!!
Hi Meg- Thanks for your post. We sell Maclaren but we don’t sell the Techno XLR so I can’t give a comparison from hands on experience. What I can tell you is that the Bee has some nice features that the Techno XLR does not have. First, it has a reversible seat which I think is worth the money in itself. Being able to stroll looking at your baby is such a positive thing for you and your baby. The Bee is one of the only lighterweight strollers that offers this feature. Second, the Bee has four wheel independent suspension which is pretty unique. Since it does not have air tires, Bugaboo kicked up the suspension to make up for not have them. Again, I haven’t tried them both together, but in theory, the Bee should handle bumpy roads better. If you have more questions, let me know! Erika

Hello,
I am due to give birth in 3 months and I am interested in purchasing the bee, I am also going to buy the accessories, baby nest for newborn, maxi-cosi car seat which can be attached to the bee with adapters. However, I was just wondering; can the car seat be attached with or without the saet. I have not yet seen a demonstration for attaching the car seat yet. I like the way the car seat attaches to the cameleon without the seat unit as it makes it look like a modern travel system, can the bee do that? do you have pictures or a specific website?
thank u, sam
Hi Sam- The Bee is a great stroller, however, the Maxi Cosi infant seat is NOT compatible with the Bee. If you want to use an infant seat with an adapter with the Bee, you need to get the Graco infant seat. The Maxi Cosi adapter bars for the Bee were not released due to a safety issue. You can use the the Graco adapter with the Bee without the seat attached where the seat is just used with the chassis. Hope that helps- Erika

Hi,
After opening my Bee and getting it up and running, i had some problems with the alignment of the backrest adjustment (the arms would not move up and down when the lock is pressed), causing the the arm release button to be misaligned and extremely hard to push in and out especially in the rear facing mode.
Suffice it to say i was very disappointed as i was expecting a higher build quality than this. Has anyone else experienced such a problem? If so, what did you do to fix it? I manually tried to slide the arms up and down and that seemed to work, but it is still stuck in the rear facing mode and is extremely hard to reverse.
The store i purchased it from is not in my city- I contacted Bugaboo and they just suggested i take it back to have it checked. Any suggestions/ similar stories?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Al- Thanks for your post. I have not heard of this issue from any of our parents about their Bees. In fact, we have generally gotten wonderful feedback about the Bee from our parents. The retailer that sold you the Bee should be able to help assist you with getting it repaired. If they are unhelpful, I would definitely contact Bugaboo again. I have found their customer service to be very helpful. Good luck! Erika

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that the Bugaboo Bee is being advertised as compatible with Maxi Cosi car seats in the UK, with the adapters readily available. eg; http://www.johnlewis.com/230439637/Product.aspx
Thanks for a great blog. Think its definately decided us on the Bee for our upcoming arrival!
Hi Nikki- Thanks for your post and I’m glad it helped you decide on the Bee. I just want to remind our U.S. readers that there are currently no plans to introduce the Maxi Cosi adapter bars for the Bee here in the U.S. They still have not passed U.S. safety testing. Erika

I love my Bee stroller it is perfect for my 7 month old girl! But at the time when I bought it, the pink wasn’t available. Is there any site where I can just by the colored canopies? Hi Mary- Thanks for your post. Unfortunately, we don’t sell the pink canopy for the Bee at this time. Sorry we couldn’t help you out! Erika

Hi Erika– so much helpful information here, THANK YOU. Just a quick follow-up on the car seat adaptor questions. Any idea whether there are differences between the UK and US versions of the Maxi Cosi carseat that would prevent the UK adaptors from working here? I have no problem with them not passing what I’m imagining to be fairly bureaucratic US regulatory hurdles, but wonder if the technical specs might differ.
Hi Sara- I wish I could answer your question. If we could ever actually get our paws on a European Maxi Cosi Cabrio maybe I could give you an answer but since I haven’t seen one and Bugaboo just says “no” to using the UK one, I’m not sure what to tell you. I’d poke around a bit more online and maybe you can find some infomation from some European sites. But since there are all sorts of liability issues, we still don’t recommend it. Hope that helps- Erika
