Blabla was created by two best friends who traveled to Peru and found wonderful handknit finger puppets knit by local artists. They then created their own designs and continue to work with the artists and local knitters in Peru. All of the dolls and animals are made of natural fibers grown in Peru. They are all knitted in Peru by local artisians.
Their dolls and animals are whimsical and loving, soft and cuddly. Blabla's poetic, simple and vibrant style combined with the ancestral knowledge of the knitters allowed them to create products which look contemporary, yet feel like old friends. The blablas are wonderful gifts for new babies as well as their big brothers and sisters!
Features and specifications:
Where did the idea for Boogaloos come from? As a child in France, the designer recalls watching a cartoon called Barbapapa with her sisters. These were blob-like funny characters that transform themselves. Their pear shape and humorous personalities stayed with her. The blabla creator also found inspiration in Japanese paintings and children's illustrations.
There are so many plush items out there but none caught our eye quite like the blablas did. The dolls are wonderfully soft and so well made. We love that they are handmade in Peru by local artisians who work directly with the designer and folks at blabla. There is so much detail in the dolls - from the tattoo on Otto's arm to the fish in the pocket of Cumulus. The quality is outstanding and any of the blablas would be well loved by a child that received it. All three of my children love them!
